Let's talk about the itch, hiccup and motion sickness of the child

Today we will talk about itching, hiccoughing and rocking the baby - about all these minor troubles that we encounter, even if not every day, then very often. Sometimes these little things give our children a real nuisance, so you need to know how you can help get rid of them.

Speaking about itching, hiccoughing and rocking the child, we will describe not only the rules of assistance in all these situations, but also try to find the reason for their appearance, to understand: are there any factors that would have allowed to avoid these moments altogether? Though, we poorly represent our life without the same hiccup - after all it is anything other, as protective or reciprocal reaction of our organism to any external irritating factors.

So, first let's talk about hiccups - about the phenomenon is truly the most common and not always pleasant. A little hiccup does not cause us any discomfort, but it happens that it drags on for a whole day - and then life just seems unbearable.

What is a hiccup? These are sharp short breaths, in which the glottis is closed: these breaths are caused by convulsive contractions of the diaphragm - a large and absolutely flat muscle that divides the abdominal cavity with the thoracic cavity.

There are two cases in the occurrence of which such a banal, at first glance, thing, like a hiccup, can serve as a serious reason for seeking medical help. So, if a child hiccups lasts more than three hours and is not even going to calm down - you need to go for an examination. The same applies to cases in which hiccups are accompanied by severe pain in the abdomen.

How can you stop hiccups in your child? Here are some of the most effective "grandfather" ways:

1) ask the child to stick out the tongue from his mouth, while holding his breath on several accounts;

2) from hiccoughs one tea spoon of granulated sugar will help to get rid;

3) give the child a drink of water, preferably sweet, or even better - with the addition of ice cubes, so that the effect is certain;

4) chop the ice from the freezer, and give it to the child to swallow small fragments;

5) cut off the baby a slice of lemon - let her suck it;

6) gently take the tongue of the baby with two fingers - and gently, gently pull it forward;

7) ask the child to stand on tiptoe, put the handles behind his head; you at this time, take a glass of cold water - and give him to drink the water in small hurried sips.

Now let's talk about motion sickness , which is also called "seasickness". This topic is particularly relevant now, during the summer holidays, when many families with children gather at sea. You have a long road ahead, or maybe you already planned an exciting and fun walk on the boat, but remembered that your child is rocking on the water and on the road. What to do with it?

To begin with, motion sickness is such an unusual and unpleasant state in a child or adult that occurs in people with a poorly developed vestibular apparatus that has been irritated for a long period of time. The condition is usually manifested by general weakness in the body, dizziness along with salivation, the child begins to sweat intensely, it vomits and often vomits.

So, what kind of help can you offer to a child who is shaken?

If you are on the road - then transplant the crumb into the front seat (if, of course, this is possible - for example, in the case of a bus ride, however, if you move by car - this is excluded, as prohibited by traffic rules). The child should not sit on the back of the head to the motion, put it so that he is facing forward. Ask him to peer into the horizon as far as possible, do not look at the nearest flashing trees and fields. The head should be pressed against the special head restraint on the seat. Fresh air can significantly alleviate the suffering of the baby, so open the window in the car - let the air stream blow the child in the face. If you are on a ship - let the child go on deck, and not sit, swaying, in a stuffy and cramped cabin. Stock up on the road with cold water, tea or juice - if the baby starts to rock, he will need to drink liquid in small sips. You can also save yourself by sucking on candy, ice cubes or mint candies. If you are driving, do small stops every half hour. Do not forget also about special medicines that can quickly remove the symptoms of motion sickness. However, with regard to such drugs, you need to consult your doctor in advance in order to determine the dose that your child needs.

Preventive measures:

- before the trip you do not need to eat anything fat, do not eat much;

- It is also not advisable to give the child to drink carbonated water before the beginning of the journey, to eat milk or too salty;

- The last snack before a long trip should take place a couple of hours before it starts;

- if you fly on an airplane - ask for tickets at the front, or near the wing;

- the child who is cured, should not overheat;

- While you are just planning a trip, take the baby to the doctor - let him prescribe a medicine against motion sickness.

Now we'll talk a little about the itch in the child - the phenomenon is also quite frequent and unpleasant. Usually itching is not dangerous, because of it you do not need to immediately run to the doctor. Especially if you see its cause (for example, a swollen trace from a mosquito bite).

However, if there is no obvious reason explaining the itch, and if scabies prevent a child from sleeping, then it is urgent to show the baby to the doctor.

How to help the child in this situation? Try to clean your clothes. So she does not come in contact with an irritated place. Particularly unpleasant sensations at the touch causes synthetics, wool and coarse materials. Let the baby take a bath, but at the same time use a minimum of soap, and thoroughly wash it off the body. Sweat still corrodes the skin and intensifies itching - do not let the baby sweat, strip it. Since often itching arises from the drying of the skin, it is not superfluous to lubricate this place with a moisturizing lotion or cream. Cool compresses also have a facilitating effect. Try to distract your child from carding: invite him to play his favorite game, watch a good funny cartoon. If itching is completely unbearable, and in the street the night, and the hospital does not go to the hospital, then you can give the baby for a good sleep antiallergic drugs - one - local, and the second - the general action. But remember that these remedies will not get rid of the root of the problem, but only remove the symptoms. Therefore, the trip to the doctor can not be postponed!
