Why do lymph nodes become inflamed?

In our article "Why inflamed lymph nodes" you will find out: what are lymph nodes and why they increase. With a weakened woman's immunity, the increase in lymph nodes may be due to trauma, in which case the seal is also located next to the lesion (for example, the arm was bruised). Especially dangerous in this case is a scratch obtained from a cat - a distributor of a very "active" microbe - Bartonella, which goes directly to the node and causes not only its increase, but also purulent inflammation.

With a similar infection, lymph nodes hurt, can "stove", turn red and get pussy on the top. Characteristic for this disease temperature, headache, weakness. This is a dangerous condition, requiring both local and general therapy and urgent medical attention.
The proliferation of lymph nodes in venereal diseases is quite common. With these diseases, the "inguinal" nodes usually increase, which almost never hurt. A confirmation of self-diagnosis can be the formation of a solid round pimple (chancre) on the genitals. Probably, it is not necessary to remind of dangerous complications of venereal diseases, which are now quite easy and successfully treated.
Inflammation of lymph nodes accompanies many oncological diseases. Here an important diagnostic criterion is the large size of the nodes (more than 3-4 cm) with practical painlessness and their density. As for the "geography", for cancer of the thyroid gland and organs of the oral cavity - these are cervical lymph nodes, with oncology of the rectum and genitourinary organs - inguinal and popliteal, with mammary gland diseases - underarm, and with blood cancer - any group of nodes.
What are lymph nodes?
In addition to the circulatory system, which consists of capillaries with blood, we also have a "parallel" system called "lymphatic", on the vessels of which there is another liquid - lymph. Its task is to "gather" from the tissues of the body and "neutralize" all the most harmful and dangerous to health (including cancer cells). In some parts of our body, capillaries with lymph are "combined" and form a kind of barrier "responsible" for the safety of this part of the body.
Lymph nodes are inside the person (in the abdomen, chest and around the blood vessels), as well as in places more accessible to our eyes: on the neck, occiput, in the armpits, elbows and knee folds, inguinal area.
An increase in any lymph node means that the immune system is actively working on the problem in that part of the body where this trouble was seen. And this problem is most often easily eliminated. The only thing that should be done in this case is to go to the therapist, before visiting which you can not do the following: press on the lymph nodes, massage them and apply compresses (both hot and cold). Remember, all this even in the absence of disease can lead to an increase in any healthy lymph node!
In addition to the increase in the lymph node, pain may or may not be present. In this case, pain indicates that the lymph node itself is affected, and its absence is that the disease is somewhere near it.
To a painless inflammation of the lymph nodes lead, mainly, infectious diseases. A short-term increase indicates that the disease has already been defeated, so, most likely, there is no cause for concern. A prolonged increase may accompany SARS, sore throat, otitis, sinusitis and even caries. In these cases, lymph nodes in the head and neck area increase, however, when it comes to children (they have an immune system that is not yet "trained"), large lymph nodes can be found in other areas.
