Dean Reed: the most Soviet American

Always cheerful, charming, with an invariable open smile. This was remembered by Soviet people Dean Reed, the first American singer, whom they saw and listened to live. His speeches ended with either political scandals, or sold-out and government awards. And how he knew how to love ... "Soviet Presley"
Dean Reed was born in 1938 in Denver (USA, Colorado). One of the advertising companies, drawing attention to the attractive appearance of a young cowboy, suggested that he work as a model. Immediately after the photo session, the proposals from the film producers followed. It seemed that Dean Reed was the perfect Western hero. Women were crazy about him. However, Dean's idols were not the cynical tamers like Clint Eastwood, but the Cuban heroes Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.

In 1965, at the World Congress in Helsinki, heated heated polemic between the Soviet and Chinese delegations. To extinguish the ardor of political opponents it was possible for a young American who came out with a guitar on stage and began to perform patriotic songs. It was Dean Reed. The Soviet delegation invited him to Moscow.

Blonde from Estonia
In 1971, at the Moscow Film Festival, Reed met with the film actress Eva Kiwi. The native of Tallinn had a spectacular appearance and in the 60s was one of the ten most beautiful actresses of the Soviet Union. When the reporters saw Reed chatting with Kiwi, before they photographed the star couple, they asked them to join hands. Dean reached out and said: "You are mine." And it happened!

In the USSR, Reed was always received with open arms. But the apartment in Moscow, where he dreamed of settling, for some reason was not given. Constantly someone prevented his meetings with Eva Kivi, especially after the death of the Minister of Culture Furtseva, who favored them. When he came to Moscow, Kiwi was somewhere on the set when she was in the capital, Dina was sent on tour. He was hinted that he could have as many mistresses as possible, but his Soviet wife was "not allowed to him." As a result, the artist was forced to leave for permanent residence in the GDR.

Under the supervision of the "Stasi"
Now he lives near Potsdam, and his political activity is not weakening. Reed travels to the hottest spots in the world, constantly gets into very risky situations.

Do not forget Dean and about his personal life. In Berlin, he hastily marries an interpreter Vibka, who, in the opinion of those who knew her, was listed as an agent of the state security service of the Stasi. They have two children. A few years later, the love for Vibka somehow went unnoticed, and their marriage was dissolved.

In the GDR, Reed continues to act in films. In 1981 he married a young, but already popular actress Renate Blume. The marriage of Dean and Renata could not be called ideal, because in each of his visits to the Union the artist met with his former passion Eva Kiwi.

Accident or murder?
Dean stopped engaging in politics, and despite the enviable material prosperity, he suddenly began to drink. What was the reason? It was said that Dean was disillusioned with socialism. In an interview with American journalists he said: "I do not consider socialism and communism the best systems ...

He wants to return to his homeland. On this ground, there are frequent scandals with Renata: she certainly did not intend to go to any America.

In the early summer of 1986, they began shooting the film "Bloodied Heart" with Dean Reed in the lead role. On June 8, another (and last!) Quarrel with Renata took place. He cut his hand with a blade and shouted: "You want my blood!" The same day, Dean collected some things, took a passport, got into the car and drove away. As the official version shows, near the Zeutner-See lake, Dean Reed failed to manage, fell on a tree and flew out of the car, fell into the water.

Eva Kiwi said in an interview: "One of the representatives of the" bodies "told me directly:" Reed does not have a way back. "The day he died, I saw a strange dream: Dean told me the exact date of his murder." Whatever it was, his death to this day remains a mystery.
