Hospitalization in hospital during pregnancy: what you need to know

Hospitalization of a pregnant woman in a hospital is always an event, whether it is the beginning of labor or some pathology of pregnancy. And like any important event, hospitalization requires sufficient training. What do you need to know the future mother, who will go to the hospital or hospital? To begin with, hospitalization can be planned, for example, if the results of the next study show that the state of health of the future mother or fetus requires constant medical supervision, while the general condition of the woman does not suffer and the threat to her life or the life of the baby is not there. In this case, the doctor of the women's consultation issues a referral to the hospital at the place of residence. But you can apply to any in-patient hospital of your choice for a fee. It is possible to postpone hospitalization for 1-2 days, if family and other circumstances do not allow you to go to the hospital right away. In this case, the future mother signs a paper in which it is said that she is warned about possible complications.

Emergency hospitalization is necessary in case of complications of pregnancy requiring urgent medical intervention. Such complications include bleeding from the genital tract, severe pain in the abdomen, sudden loss of consciousness, etc. In the latter case, the directions of the attending doctor are, of course, not required - you need to call an ambulance or call the nearest maternity ward without delay.

Prepare the documents!
In the event that the hospitalization is planned and you have stipulated in advance its date with the attending physician, you have the opportunity to prepare for hospitalization thoroughly. If you need emergency hospitalization, when you need to go to the hospital in the shortest possible time, as a rule, there is not enough time for collection. Let's list the necessary minimum of documents, which is always required when hospitalization in a hospital.

In the purse of the future mother must be present a passport and a policy of compulsory medical insurance. Without them, as a rule, not a single reception by a doctor, and even more so, they will be needed during hospitalization, whether it begins labor or the need to go to hospital with the threat of termination of pregnancy. Another important document that should be in the bag is an exchange card that contains all information about the current pregnancy, the results of tests and all surveys. The exchange card is issued to the woman in the 28-32 weeks of pregnancy. Upon agreement with the doctor who is treating, the exchange card will be given out after the 12th week of pregnancy, especially this may be necessary with any concomitant pathology or complicated course of pregnancy itself. In this case, if you need urgent hospitalization, the exchange card will be at hand with the necessary minimum of research (general analysis of blood and urine, RW, HIV, hepatitis B and C). At each visit to the doctor of a woman's consultation, you must present him with an exchange card for entering into it new data - examination and examination results, which will be needed by the doctor of the admissions department for preliminary assessment of your condition. Without an exchange card at the time of hospitalization, you run the risk of getting into the observatory of the maternity hospital, in which there are unincorporated women who have arrived urgently and without documents, which means the potential danger of infectious infection of other parturient women and newborns, as well as women suffering from various infectious diseases.

Before the exchange card is on hand, it is good to have a copy of all tests and ultrasound. In addition, along with the documents it is necessary to keep with you all the extracts from the hospital, if you are not hospitalized for the first time.

Emergency hospitalization always involves a minimum of time for collection. Therefore, the most important item on your list is the availability of documents (passport, insurance policy, exchange card), especially when an unforeseen situation that requires urgent medical assistance, originated outside the home. In this regard, it is recommended that all these papers be kept in one place and always have them with you when you go out into the street.

Necessary things
If an emergency situation occurred at home, then before the ambulance arrives, there are a couple of minutes to put a toothbrush, soap, a towel, change shoes, a nightdress and a robe into the bag. All the rest will be taken by relatives.

If an antenatal (planned) hospitalization is required (in case of needing a planned cesarean section, or if there is a complicated course of pregnancy - delay in fetal growth, chronic intrauterine fetal hypoxia, placenta previa, etc.), you have the time to deliberately collect the bag with everything necessary. For convenience, you can make a list of items that will be required in the hospital, and delete items from it as the bag fills.

We will give a more complete set of necessary things that you can prepare for the day of planned hospitalization, when you have several hours, or even days, to think things over and forget nothing. In addition to these documents, you need to have easy to wash slippers, you can take two pairs of sneakers: one home - in them you can walk in the ward, and other rubber - they can go to the examinations, the treatment room, a shower. In the department of pathology, you need a comfortable removable clothing - a robe or light sports kit, 1-2 nightdresses or cotton T-shirts, underwear, socks. Do not forget to take hygiene items - toothbrush and toothpaste, towel, roll of toilet paper, paper napkins, soap, shampoo, loofah, as well as deodorant (if possible, odorless), comb and hair band. Do not be afraid to put something superfluous: it is better then to lay out an unnecessary thing and give it to relatives than to be without the usual and necessary things.

Every woman wants to be beautiful even in a hospital, for which you should not forget about caring for yourself. So do not forget to bring a jar of your favorite face cream with you. If you are supposed to be in hospital before delivery, then focus on the postpartum period. For example, hand cream with caution should be used when communicating with a newborn: the smell of perfumes that make up the cream may not appeal to the baby. The same can be said about soap or shower gels, the smells of which can have an irritating effect on the child. Therefore, choose these care products if possible without perfumes. If you use makeup, then take it: your appearance depends on your mood. Do not forget to bring a manicure set to keep your hands well-groomed.

In the hospital there is always a lot of free time to fill it with benefit, take with you an interesting book, a cognitive journal or a directory for expectant mothers. The latter probably became your reference book. Or maybe you are preparing a dowry for your baby-tie him a hat or blouse, embroider a pillowcase? In this case, do not forget your handiwork at home: it will help you pass the time. You can take a player or even a laptop - you will be provided with an interesting leisure. That's it! The bag is assembled. All captured? Oh yeah, the mobile phone (and the charger to it), without it at all. Now, it seems, really took all the essentials.
