At the end of September the premiere of the film "Hostages" by the Georgian director Rezo Gigineishvili was held. Even before the film was released on a wide screen, critics called it the best film of the year. The tape managed to get the prize of "Kinotavr" and was awarded at the Berlin Film Festival.

Bursting into the cockpit of the pilots, the terrorists shot the flight engineer and mortally wounded the navigator-inspector.
Hijackers kept the passengers of the airplane in fear, threatening them, and promising that they would not leave anyone alive. Negotiations and requests from parents who came to the airport were unsuccessful. Terrorists promised to shoot three people per hour for all the reasons, if they were not sent to Turkey. In the morning, the seizure group Alfa managed to neutralize the criminals.
The court sentenced the main defendants of the case to be shot.

Taking as a basis the real story, Rezo presented the tragedy in the form of a romantic story. Young terrorists who had the opportunity to legally fly to Turkey on a tourist permit, deliberately went to the capture of the aircraft and murder, so that their escape had a resonance. The director offers viewers to look at their heroes as fighters against the totalitarian Soviet regime.
Thus, the title of the film acquires a double meaning: the "captives" in Gigineishvili's film are not the crew members and passengers of the seized liner, but the terrorists themselves, who personify the "hostages of the system" in the film.
At the same time, Rezo contradicts himself, saying that the actions of young majors can not be justified, and immediately emphasizing that there are no guilty in this story:

Yesterday, a petition appeared on the site of Change.org, calling for the prohibition of showing Rezo Gigineishvili's picture, as distorting historical reality and justifying terrorism. The creators of the film users of the Network, who signed the petition, are called to account.
