On the dangers of smoking for adolescents

Smoking among teenagers is one of the most important problems, the solution of which should be dealt with with the utmost care and responsibility. It should be noted that according to statistical data, despite a lot of warnings about the dangers of smoking and anti-tobacco advertising, in recent years there has been a tendency to increase the number of smoking teenagers.

According to the same statistics, Russia is in the first place in terms of the number of smokers among all countries, as well as the number of smokers among adolescents. In higher education institutions, the number of male smokers reaches 75%, and female sex - up to 65%. Moreover, as noted above, these figures are gradually growing. Most of the smoking teenagers have a strong dependence on nicotine. The average age at which adolescents begin to smoke, at the moment is about 14-16 years.

What pushes a teenager to smoke? There are many ways to answer this question: a teenager can look for new sensations, try to express himself in this way, imitate some of his idol, etc. And although there are so many possible reasons, the result is one for everyone - a severely undermined health. Each of the reasons represents a certain psychological problem, however reliable methods of solution exist far not for everyone. Most of all, it depends on the teenager, as well as on his surroundings. Parents are often not always able to clearly and easily disclose the harm that is inflicted on the body in the process of smoking, but they simply try to ban smoking, which causes the teenager to double the desire to take up a cigarette, and the desire is stronger the harder the ban. But the damage from smoking is very high, smoking does not allow the body to grow normally and adversely affects many organs at a time when they are not yet fully formed, and, consequently, are not as well protected as the organs of an adult.

For example, the lungs are formed physiologically only to 18 years, and in some cases to 20-22 years. Similarly, other bodies begin to work fully only after reaching adulthood.

When a teenager smokes, a large amount of carbon monoxide enters his blood, which reacts with hemoglobin, which leads to oxygen starvation of many organs and tissues. And because the body only grows, this phenomenon can be a great danger for him.

Extremely negative smoking affects the respiratory and cardiovascular systems of the body. If a child starts smoking in the lower grades, then by the age of 14 he can suffer from shortness of breath and heart rate irregularities. Even if a teenager smokes only a year and a half, then he already has violations in the function of regulation of breathing.

The fewer years of adolescence, the stronger are usually the various symptoms of deterioration of the body, such as shortness of breath, cough, weakness. Often there are disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, acute respiratory infections and colds. Many cases of chronic acute bronchitis are noted.

Strong negative effects of nicotine and other harmful substances of tobacco products have on the brain of an adolescent. The younger an adolescent, the stronger smoking is affected by blood supply to the brain, leading to rapid fatigue, reduced learning achievement, scattered attention. And since most of the basic behavioral patterns are formed during this period, it is much more difficult to quit smoking to a teenager who was used to cigarettes during this period.

Smoking among adolescents is a problem for all countries of the world. There are many large-scale advertising companies, through which information is spread about how harmful smoking is for adolescents. Unfortunately, many tobacco companies with the help of their commercials represent smoking in an advantageous form, making a man with a cigarette an ideal of masculinity (femininity). Therefore it is extremely important to communicate with a teenager directly, as detailed as possible about how harmful the cigarettes are and demonstrating the effects of smoking in adults and adolescents.
