Public conflicts and ways to solve them

All of us in the childhood quarreled with the friends because of toys, sweets and so on. Then they became adults and began to share their feelings, finances, property, nuclear energy and even a place under the sun. All people are egoists by nature and rarely anyone can feel embarrassed about it. Therefore, when all disagreements take the form of a conflict, our emotions boldly take over our minds and our minds, thus leading us into a dead end. This is how social conflicts arise, in which a compromise must necessarily be sought. We propose to get acquainted in detail and to find out what kind of social conflicts and ways to solve them are in themselves, which do not leave negative consequences for the participants in the conflict.

General concept of social (social) conflict

Before touching on the subject of social conflicts and ways to solve them, it is necessary to clearly understand and understand such a concept as social conflict. So, public conflicts are, as a rule, conflicts that arise because of disagreements, attempts to take the place of a leader or a divergence of opinions, views that originate in certain social groups (working group, academic group in an educational institution and so on). In this way, the social connection between people is clearly manifested.

The methods and decisions regarding the way out of the conflict

As a rule, the conflicts themselves and the solutions to their resolution represent the core line on which the opponent's behavior itself is based during this conflict.

According to experts, social conflicts include five main strategies, namely: rivalry, finding a compromise, avoiding the problem, adapting to it, cooperation. Let's get more specific acquainted with each of these positions, which carries the way out and solve the social conflict.

So, rivalry. It is based on imposing on his opponent a very acceptable decision for himself. Such rivalry can be justified on several occasions. Firstly, when this decision has a solid design, secondly, it brings a beneficial result for all participants in the conflict or the organization as a whole, and not for a specific person or microgroup; third, it must be important and do not take much time for one's own implementation in life. This method is effective in fundamental and extreme situations or when there is a noticeable lack of time. But it is worth noting the fact that rivalry can have negative consequences. For example, if everything does not work out according to the scheme, you can expect condemnation from the surrounding people.

Finding a compromise . This strategy includes ways to end the conflict with the help of partial ledges. A participant in a public conflict refuses a part of the demands that were previously put forward and shows its clear willingness to accept all claims coming from the other party. A compromise is considered effective if both sides of the conflict realize that they have equal rights and opportunities, have mutually exclusive interests, are satisfied with the temporary decision and are deprived of the threat to lose everything.

Avoiding the problem or solving it is one way to leave public disagreements without huge losses. This method differs markedly from a similar strategic position during the conflict. Usually, the opponent resorts to this method after all his attempts to change anything have failed, after they are implemented through active strategies. Here, most likely, we are not talking about finding a solution, but about the extinction of the social conflict itself. Or such an act can be a constructive reaction to a fairly protracted conflict or unwillingness to lead it on.

Adaptation or concessions. These methods carry a forced or voluntary refusal to participate in the struggle (conflict). Most often, the conflict participants come to such a result when they realize that they are not right, the desire to maintain good relations, the seriousness of the problem, or with a presentiment of negative consequences, the absence of chances for another outcome, and the pressure of a third party.

Cooperation . It is considered one of the most effective strategies for resolving a social conflict. Cooperation includes the attraction of opponents to a constructive approach to solving the problem, through negotiations between the two conflicting parties. Also in this case, the other party is not regarded as an adversary, but as an ally. It is very good in such a situation, if both sides feel strong reciprocity, ignore the propensity for power and it is important to refer to a mutual solution.

The choice of any of these ways that will help solve social conflicts, directly depends on the factors. Typically, they can indicate the particularity of a party, the level of damage caused by the conflict, the availability of resources, the likely consequences, the importance of the problem and the length of the turmoil.

The most likely way is to use a compromise, as concessions by both sides allow to achieve asymmetric (one side is making concessions less, another is more) or symmetric (the parties are making equal concessions) of consent.

It is always worth remembering that the combination of all strategies, first of all, is aimed at eliminating all the contradictions that underlie the social conflict.

Afterword

As everyone knows, most often the main reason for the emergence of a social conflict is ourselves, or rather, specific individuals who start in the team "cook porridge" because of misunderstandings, misunderstandings, disagreements and differences in judgment. And instead of trying to reach the home stretch and find a way out of the current situation, more people are being drawn into the conflict in order to prove their rightness, even without particularly delving into the situation. But, in fact, it is necessary to learn to listen attentively to the arguments of all parties and not to become one of the leaders.

As the saying goes: "Guys, let's live together!".
