Baby-yoga from birth to eight weeks: how to hold and carry the baby

Support, like in ballet, means in yoga a situation when someone is carrying someone. In the future, speaking about the situation when the child is in your hands, regardless of whether you are sitting, standing or moving with it, we will use the term "support".

Direct Support

Relaxed support

"Relaxed support" is one of the most important concepts in the system of child yoga.

It is important to learn how to wear a baby in this way immediately after birth. The meaning is that by transferring the child, you are in a relaxed state. This becomes especially true when the infant begins to gain weight rapidly.

Support in a state of relaxation, taking into account the most natural position for your hands and spine, will maximize your back. A conscious relaxation when wearing a baby will help you get rid of static stress while walking.

The earlier you master different ways of relaxed support, the faster you will gain freedom in movement.

With the simplest, relaxed support, the toddler rests on your breast, while his head lies on your collarbone. With one hand you hold the child across the chest, the other - under the buttocks.

Relaxed face support

Recently, the way of wearing children in the arms of the person on the back has become popular. In some countries of Asia and the Middle East, mothers have long been born in their arms just like that.

One of the main advantages of this support is that in this way the baby is subjected to a relaxing stimulation, which is very useful, especially for children suffering from colic.

To master support face down, first relax your shoulders. Press the child in the main sitting position to his chest. Then move the baby's chest to the top of his hand and grasp his hand firmly with the thumb and forefinger. Now move the other hand between the legs of the child to support his stomach. Turn it face down, keeping your head at the same level as the spinner. For additional support, put his head on his forearm.

If you hold the child too high, the shoulders will be strained. This method of support will give the child maximum freedom and stability.

Variants of this support will be used in standing poses when you are engaged in yoga with your child during his first year of life.

Variant with a roll

Holding the child in a relaxed position face down, roll it up and face to you (then you can hug him and kiss him).

Before you do this standing up, try sitting first. Start a very soft rolling and if the child likes it, follow the movement with a big swing.

When you fully master this method of support, you will be able to hold the pen handle with your fingers.

As the neck of the child strengthens, make the exercise harder: try to hold only his head when he hangs on your arm, but be prepared to support him under the buttocks. In this position, most babies completely relax. Observe the reactions of the child and guided by them, try different ways to support.

Relaxed support in the move

The easier it is for you to carry a child while walking, the more comfortable it feels. Therefore, it makes sense not only to carry the child, but to move relaxed, paying attention to your gait, breathing and rhythm.

Every person has his own rhythm of walking. But the familiar tempo and gait change when you have to carry a newborn in your arms. You try to think more about how not to disturb the baby, forgetting at the same time mastering the posture.

If you carry the child relaxed and your movements are natural, then the baby will walk in your taktvasha walking.

The simplest way is to learn how to roll it like for sitting support, holding one hand across his chest, and the other under the buttocks.

Try to maintain proper posture while walking. If necessary, look at yourself in the mirror or even better, stand at the wall, slightly bending your knees to maximally straighten and press your back against the wall. Young parents often instinctively lean forward to protect the child, although in fact the baby will be more relaxed if you walk with the chest extended and laid back by the shoulders; this will give your gait stability.
