Bond girl from Ukraine Olga Kurylenko

Bond girl from Ukraine, Olga Kurylenko - the most beautiful and popular star in France and Europe. It would seem that all the ingredients for pride are available - beauty, success, skill, but it is still puzzled by a flurry of negative press that hit Olga before the release of "Quantum of Solace" in 2008. "It's strange somehow," Kurylenko agrees, "it turns out that in foreign countries I was accepted with open arms, and at home - with fists." Friendly and cheerful, despite everything, a girl from Berdyansk has become one of the most sought-after actresses in France, in the UK and, of course, in Hollywood.

Contrary to the established opinion that the career of the "standard Bond girl" ends after the words "the end of the film", Olga continued to work successfully and starred in three films, including the historical thriller Centurion, released in April, with Michael Fassbender in the title role. On the way - a project with Orlando Bloom, Vincent Cassel and director Gattaki, shooting the drama about Chernobyl (for it took the Frenchwoman of Israeli origin Michel Boganim), as well as the car and a small cart of scenarios for consideration.

"I was invited to open the London premiere of Avatara, in which my good friend Michelle Rodriguez starred," sighs the actress. - But it did not happen because of the working schedule, it was necessary to fly to Los Angeles. At the premiere of time, now there is no way to find it: constantly we need to learn monologues for auditions, read scripts, not to mention additional literature. Now, for example, in the midst of the development of "Karamazov", "Idiot" and "Anna Karenina" for one of the films. Hello, school! "

Olga knows her own worth and does not chase after tenacious headlines in the tabloids. After moving the actress from Paris to London, I never noticed her in any of the paparazzi-vinaigrettes scattered across the pages of British newspapers. After moving to London, where do you now feel at home?

Olga Kurylenko . In Paris, oddly enough. However, nothing strange - I spent almost half my life there. She left at the age of 16, and, after working as a model, she started acting in films too. I especially like walking around Paris. Through the Tuileries, past the Louvre, to the Cathedral of Notre Dame and beyond. London, too, was walking when she lived at Covent Garden. Here everything is somehow brighter, more flowers. French women do not like brightness, adhere to the classical style, and in London, wherever you look - yellow, red, blue. And what style is closest to you?

Olga. Convenient . The main thing is that without heels. I really like yellow, but I have a lot of neutral things: gray, black, beige. Most importantly - without heels.

And at parties and balls called - also without heels? OK I'm a terrible housewife. Back in Paris, when I was just starting to work as a model, everyone said: "What are you sitting at home? Walk, while young! "And I liked at home with a book. The funniest thing is that those who told me this are still walking, but I'm working. Do you miss French friends?

Olga. Yes. Until recently, all roads were led by the Bond girl from Ukraine, Olga Kurilenko to Paris. Many friends there remained, but on the other hand - not too far from London to Paris, took the train - and that's it. Last New Year, however, did not work, again because of work. But in London, I finally met Natasha Vodyanova. Us after all the same person has opened, but, strangely enough, before that we did not meet.

It seems that geography influences your work: you starred in two British films with British stars, including Lily Cole.

OK. More likely, on the contrary. I moved, because my favorite agent lives in London - hence the projects. It was also more convenient to fly to Los Angeles. London plays a role, so to speak, a trans-shipment point. I do not even have time to travel to Great Britain myself, I'm only here on the set. It was great when they shot Centurion in Scotland. What a beautiful place, on the Scottish hills! Although it was in the winter, and to the place of filming, we were delivered every day in tanks. Rather, almost in tanks - on machines with caterpillars. In another way, it was impossible to get there, except on foot. What I once had to do when our "tank" got stuck on the very edge of the cliff. I got out and said: "As you wish, I'm walking on foot, so it's safer!" Your heroine in Centurion is a pretty warlike lady.

Olga. Oh yeah! She is the leader of the Picts tribe, and it is better not to fall in the way: Etey pretty cleverly cuts the throat of the Romans and swings axes. Another curious detail: Etain mute. I was very interested in working with the role. In the script, Etain is described as a wolf, and I tried to use this clue. I remember you said that for the role of Camilla in the Bond you had to train hard. There is the same story OK K. No, then I was driven into the tail and into the mane, and the shooting of the Centurion was more like a dance lesson. Of course, at first it was necessary to learn to possess cold steel. We did not spend a couple of it, but it was more fun than hard.

You talk like a man devoted to the gym.

OK. No way! If the scenario does not require, I can not be dragged into the hall. I do not even try, because I know: every day I will invent hundreds of reasons for absenteeism. I'm terribly bored there. When you need some stunts for filming and I'm specially taught to them - it's interesting, fascinating. By the way, if we talk about tricks, I was lucky with the constitution, I guess. I remember when I came to the first ballet class in my childhood, everyone in the class diligently dilated and warmed up to sit on the string, and I just took and sat down.

From the first attempt .

By what principle do you choose roles for yourself?

Olga. I should be interested in the story itself and, of course, the experience of the character. Now categorically refuse the roles of girls who appear in the film as a free appendix to the hero-man. I have already passed this way, and now I'm interested in strong characters, not soundless furniture. Although much depends on the director: I, for example, run to run on the set, if Lara von Trier invites me to play furniture! You once said that you are more likely to learn from the movie "Hitman", and not at all by "Quantum of Solace." How so? OK Yes, and, strange, indeed! "Quantum", of course, contributed to my popularity, but if they recognize me on the street, then for some reason they call "Hitman". This movie means a lot to me.

I did start acting in France, and for French actresses to find work outside the country is not so easy. I tried to get through, I went to New York with my videotape, where they told me: "We do not watch French movies. Do something in America. " And how could I do this without an agent? Vicious circle. Suddenly, an application for the casting of Hitman came and everything turned. As soon as the film came out, the agents themselves broke off my phone. This film opened for me the door to the English-language cinema. Please tell us about your role in the film "Dragons dwell there". Did you shoot with Lily Cole?

OK Unfortunately, Lily and I did not meet on the court, because we did not have any joint scenes. But I really enjoyed working on this picture. I play the Hungarian anarchist, who leaves her native country for 19 years, leaves for Spain and joins the International Brigades.

I have doubts that the fans of "Hitman" or "Quantum" will buy a ticket for a film about the civil war in Spain.

OK. Of course not. The ideal combination is to shoot in both commercial and non-commercial films. So to speak, for yourself, and for the public. I know a huge number of actors who are stuck in the author's cinema, and no one knows about them, despite their undeniable talent. I'm glad that I have the opportunity to work on both sides of the barricade. The film "Land of oblivion" about the events in Chernobyl, to which you are shooting in May, on which side of the barricades?

O.K. This is an author's cinema, a joint Ukrainian-French production, with Ukrainian and Russian actors. The script was so impressive that I just could not say no. I have not read this for a long time. Did you communicate with people who survived the Chernobyl tragedy?

OK I want to do this when I come to Ukraine to prepare for the shooting. I've already seen so much documentary material! Now before my eyes a clear picture of those events and not only human suffering, but also the cynicism of politicians who kept silent about what is happening. It's terrible to realize that the state cares not about its citizens, but only about how it looks! Fortunately, there are people in the world who are not indifferent to the truth.
