Chinese Crested Dog

Chinese Crested is a very unusual and ancient breed of dogs. Its main feature, if it's a naked crested Chinese dog, is the partial or total absence of wool throughout the body, except for the tail, head and legs.

Scientists suggest that the original homeland of this "bare" breed was Africa. Chinese Crested lived in China, and in Mexico, and in Peru, and in Turkey, Argentina, the Philippines, the Caribbean islands, Ethiopia.

Unfortunately, at the moment there is no reliable evidence or evidence of a real homeland of naked dogs, and also about how they spread throughout the world. It is assumed that in the Middle Kingdom crested dogs first came from Africa, and then from Turkey, where they were fairly common.

Care, education and feeding

If the right breed is taken care of properly, its skin will be very soft to the touch, while being denser and thicker than other breeds of dogs. Cuts and wounds on their skin heal very quickly.

If the naked individual has a light color, then in summer their skin quickly tans, changing the color. It is in summer that Chinese crested dogs reach their final color. In some cases, they may have white or black acne on their skin, which are rudimentary dead hair.

They are easy to remove with a gauze pad moistened with antiseptic solution or thin tweezers. After treatment, the skin of the dog should be treated with any hypoallergenic cream.

Bathing Chinese crested dogs need not more than once a week, using a shower gel. Sites with wool need to be treated with shampoo, which restores the structure of the hair and gives volume. In all species that differ in the absence of wool, there are hair on the muzzle that should be removed with a machine, shaving the hairs so as not to intersect the imaginary line drawn from the ear to the outer corner of the eye. After the shaving process is finished, the skin should be treated with an antiseptic solution and softening creams. It is suitable for sunblock, as well as a cream for herbs or baby creams.

If you want to take a dog out on the street in the cold season, then it should be worn in a specially sewn or knitted overall that will protect your pet from the cold and bad weather.

Care for their hair, in general, does not differ from that for any dog with long hair. They should be washed no more than once a week, regularly combing the hair.

Paws of Chinese crested dogs have a specific shape, called a hare's foot. With this structure, the claws are less likely to grind and grow faster, which leads to the need to cut them.

This breed is very frisky and mobile. Chinese crested willingly and joyfully play with a variety of rubber toys. For such small dogs, almost everything can become a toy, they will play with a ball of threads and a plastic lid from the bottle. In general, the breed in its behavior is very similar to cats. She can skillfully use her front paws, trying to attract your attention. At the same time, they are not intrusive at all, and if you do not want to play with it for one reason or another, then the Chinese Crested will play with its tail or settle down to sleep.

Feeding dogs of this breed is not difficult, because in food they are nerderevlyvy, like to eat vegetables and fruits. If the pet has few teeth, then it can be eaten with canned food for dogs or finely chopped ordinary food (even better if it will be ground). In the diet of the dog must necessarily include vitamins A, D, E, as well as phosphorus and calcium, so that the Chinese crested properly developed teeth and bones.

Widespread myth that the Chinese crested dog usually has a higher body temperature, which is needed to protect against the cold with an absent wool cover. Most likely, this myth appeared due to the fact that the body temperature of the dog is on average above the human body temperature by four degrees. In fact, the body temperature of Chinese crested dogs is no different from that of the usual.

The breed is distinguished by endurance and health. Properly courting the Chinese crested dog, you will receive a reward of friendship and affection, which are some of the best traits in the character of this dog.
