Eternal classic, or How to create an interior in a classic style

Classic style in the interior - this is a sign of good taste and clarified attitude of its owner. Perfect forms, laconic colors and exquisite furniture create an incredibly cozy and spiritual interior, in which you want to not just live, but also create. It's no coincidence that many creative individuals prefer it when decorating their houses - a style that inspires and exalts. The peculiarities of classicism will be discussed later.

Immortal classic: the main features of style in the interior

By its appearance in architecture, the classical style owes the artists of the Renaissance - the era of the revival of the ancient canons of beauty and traditions of the Ancient Hellas. Quite often the classic style in the interior is confused with Baroque, Empire and Rococo, which arose around the same time and in many respects are similar. But despite the similarity of different elements and design techniques, these styles can not be called identical. There are a number of significant differences, which, nevertheless, do not prevent the mixing of their individual elements.

Among the main distinctive features of the classical style in the interior, there are several criteria. First, it is the symmetry and correctness of geometric shapes. Both criteria are directly inherited from the architects of Ancient Greece, where they were considered a model of beauty and a sign of high skill. Secondly, quiet shades of natural colors. For the interior in the classical style, the following tones are characteristic: beige, gray, ocher, peach, olive, pistachio, milk, sand, and ivory. But the main color of classicism is white. It is taken as a basis, and the remaining colors are used to create smooth transitions and accents. Thirdly, luxury and presentability. Most often these two criteria in the classical interior are achieved with stucco molding, columns, niches, a large open space and expensive carved furniture.

How to create an interior in a classic style?

Most often, classicism is chosen for decorating a house or country cottage, in which a large area allows you to show all the luxury and scale of this style. And although many modern designers with the help of various stylistic tricks have learned to add a visual volume to the room, we do not recommend decorating in classicism, for example, a small apartment in Khrushchev - it will look tasteless and inappropriate. Also note that if you have already chosen this style, then it is better to perform the whole house in it. Of course, you can only make a bedroom or kitchen in a classic interior, but the risk of disharmony of this room with the rest of the premises is very high - the classic does not tolerate half-measures.

Most classicism is suitable for a large living room. Its center should be a luxurious fireplace, lined with refined tiles of light colors. Furniture should be chosen for antiques: carved backs and legs, good-quality upholstery, natural materials. Another important point is decor. Must be stucco moldings, niches, paintings, curtains, porcelain. A place of honor and a lamp - a huge wrought-iron chandelier with crystal elements will be an excellent solution for a classic living room.

If we talk about the bedroom, executed in this style, then its center will be a huge bed, preferably with a canopy. The presence of a large number of textiles is welcome: coverlets, carpets, tapestries. Necessarily should be bedside tables with lamps.
