Traditionally, at the end of the year, the organizers of the popular Eurovision Song Contest announce the list of participating countries. This time the festival will be held in Portugal from 8 to 12 May. The host country recently announced the list of participants of the "Eurovision-2018", which included Russia.
Remembering the sad experience of last year, when the management of the international contest went on the occasion of the Kyiv organizers of the Eurovision-2017, many are already asking whether Russia should take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, or it is necessary to refuse demonstratively to participate in the contest, the rules which change in favor of politics.
Stanislav Govorukhin on participation in the Eurovision Song Contest-2018: "We must preserve our dignity"
His opinion on this issue was voiced by Stanislav Govorukhin, Chairman of the State Duma Committee. The famous director is sure that Russia should refuse to continue participating in the politicized contest:
I think, since we got in the face, the second time is no longer necessary. We must preserve our dignity and refuse to participate in this muck.
It's hard not to agree with Govorukhin. Many still remember well how, until the last moment, the representatives of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) tried to influence the Ukrainian organizers who refused to Russian participant Yulia Samoilova in the opportunity to come to Kiev last year. Then EBU and could not force Ukraine to comply with the established rules.
A year earlier, at the Eurovision-2017 as a result of innovations in the vote, Sergei Lazarev with the absolute hit "You Are the Only One" was in third place, although according to the results of the audience vote, the representative of Russia scored the most points.
Based on the above facts, there is no certainty that at Eurovision-2018 the Russian participant will not be prejudiced by the organizers and the jury.
