Home delivery and childbirth on the road

There are cases when delivery occurs not in the conditions of the maternity hospital, but at home or on the road. Today, we will talk about how to pass home birth and childbirth on the road.

Home birth.

Recently, more and more often women prefer to give birth not in medical institutions, but at home. Mostly women choose this way of delivery, as the native walls of the house help her to endure pain during bouts, the woman is in a familiar situation, which means she is calm and can fight fear. Also, the presence of a husband or another native person reinforces the physical and moral strength of the woman in labor. Practice shows that childbirth with her husband is much less painful in many respects, since the woman in labor feels constant attention and support. When a man is present during childbirth, he becomes a witness of how his child is born, he sees the first seconds of his life, hears his first crying. The man experiences at the same time a strong emotional shock, which later affects his paternal feelings and responsibilities.

In our country, nevertheless, home births are not as widespread as in other developed European and Western countries. Usually, the birth of a home occurs when a woman does not have time to deliver to the maternity ward on time. A woman gives birth at home, but after that her and the newborn are transported to the maternity ward, not in the usual, but in the observational department.

You should give birth at home only if you have a child and he was born without complications, you are healthy and the fetus is normal, pregnancy was uneventful, there is an opportunity to invite an obstetrician for birth.

It should be remembered that if you plan to give birth at home in advance, you should be able to transport you to the hospital if unforeseen complications arise during childbirth.

If the size of the fruit is large, if you have polyhydramnios or you have twins, then there can be no question of home birth. You have to give birth in the maternity hospital, where you can be provided with qualified medical assistance on time.

Meanwhile, there are times when birth begins suddenly and develops very quickly. Such situations arise when the mother has already given birth several times, if the labor has begun prematurely, if the fruit is small in size. Of course, such unforeseen births are not exactly ordinary home births, which are prepared in advance. After such births, it is necessary, as soon as possible, to deliver the mother and baby to the nearest maternity ward so that they can be examined, so that the child is given anti-tetanus serum, etc.

Childbirth on the road.

In the last months of pregnancy, you should not make any trips, especially distant ones. But sometimes circumstances develop in such a way that you are forced to go somewhere before the very birth. Then there is a high probability that labor can begin on the road.

If childbirth began in public transport, for example, in an airplane or in a train, then immediately inform the conductor or the flight attendant about it. They can find doctors among passengers. Help can be provided by people accompanying you: a husband, a mother, a brother or even a woman from the passengers who herself gave birth. The main thing when giving birth on the road is to keep the maximum possible cleanliness, ask the conductors for sterile bandages, iodine, alcohol, zelenok. The process will require clean clothes or clean clothes. Those who will assist the mother in labor should wash their hands thoroughly with soap, then wipe them with alcohol (in extreme cases - with cologne), lubricate fingertips and fingernails with iodine.

If at birth you are not helped by a doctor, then it is better not to touch the abdomen and the genitals, so it can interfere with the natural process. His help should be to, after the baby's head and shoulders were born, put it on clean underwear between the mother's legs, remove the mucus from the nose and mouth with a bandage. This is done very carefully, since the newborn has very tender mucous tissues. It must be ensured that the umbilical cord is not stretched. About a minute after the baby was born, you need to tie his umbilical cord in two places - at a distance of 10 and 15cm from his navel. The child's knot should be particularly strong. The umbilical cord should be treated with iodine between the nodes. The scissors with which the umbilical cord will be cut are burned with a flame of lighters and treated with iodine. The umbilical cord is then cut between the nodes. A sterile bandage is applied to the umbilical cord. The newborn baby is wrapped in a diaper (sheet) and in a warm blanket.

After the birth of the baby, the woman in labor should give birth to a baby. Do not pull on the umbilical cord. The latter will be born when his natural separation occurs. After the latter comes out of the birth canal, you need to wrap it in a clean cloth, as it should be examined by a doctor. In order for the uterus to shrink better, you can put a cold to the mother's maternity or let her lie down for a while on her stomach.

After 15 minutes the newborn should turn pink, his breathing should be even, and the cry - loud. No matter how the birth took place, the mother and child should be transported as soon as possible to the nearest hospital or maternity hospital.
