How to choose a tutor

The first school month or half-year ends, and the child has a triplet in mathematics, problems in English, and the Russian language suffers. How to be in this situation? Many parents find only one way out - to hire a tutor. Usually, the tutors are looking for acquaintances (so that the person was recommended), in special agencies, in newspaper ads or on the Internet. What should be the requirements for a tutor?

First, it must be a knowledgeable person. It would be superfluous to check the candidate's diploma of education. If a tutor has pedagogical education, this is a noticeable advantage, because it is important not just to know your subject, but to know how to teach your subject.

Secondly, the tutor should have certain recommendations from previous jobs or from the agency. Do not be lazy to call the numbers indicated there - so you will be calmer for your child.

And last but not least, the tutor should like you and your child. It should be a pleasant person, able to communicate and act confidently in conflict situations.

Before you begin, learn in detail from the tutor his methodology, what additional textbooks he is going to do with your child, what tasks "on the house" will be asked. You must be aware of the additional educational process.

Usually tutors have hourly pay, but its sizes can vary depending on the "status" of the tutor or the subject. Among the teachers for additional home education there are many teachers and teachers, many students. Naturally, teachers are more experienced in their business, but they will cost you more, and your demands, perhaps, will refuse to comply. It's easier to work with students, their requests are not large. Tutor-student can put any demands (for example, "I want my grandmother to sit in each class"). However, the experience of beginning tutors is small, the level of responsibility also often leaves much to be desired.

In addition, the tutor is not the only way to combat child failure.

Look closely at your child: maybe you have an obvious humanitarian? Then the triplets in mathematics should not greatly embarrass you. Perhaps your child is very tired or just does not have enough iodine - the health factor directly affects the ability of children.

It happens that the child is too loaded with schoolwork or home problems (agree that the discord between parents does not go to the schoolboy for good). Therefore, before turning to the tutor, think, maybe the reason for the failure of the child is not inadequate development.

Perhaps, the child does not have enough new impressions, he is too busy with studies, he is tired, hence - poor progress. Maybe it's worth thinking about additional creative activities (drawing, singing, dancing). But do not overdo it, do not immediately give the poor child to a professional dance class! Even two classes a week will help the child to relieve the stress, distract, dream up, and this will give an opportunity to relax and activate a small body. In addition, your child may show creative abilities, which you previously did not know about.

Before you look for a home teacher, think about whether the child really needs extra lessons. Maybe you should pay more attention to the lessons with your child? After all, explaining the theorem of Pythagoras is easy, as well as learning along with the child several rules on the Russian language. Perhaps your personal interest will be a good incentive for a small student, and there will be no more problems in the school.
