How to tie a column with a crochet - step by step instruction

The main types of columns:

  1. Polustolbik or connecting column.
  2. Column with two or more cuffs.
  3. Lush column.
  4. Relief column:
    • convex column;
    • concave column.

Each of these kinds of columns will be considered in more detail.

  1. Polustolbik or connecting column.

Typically, this kind of column is used for a pattern or for joining two parts of products. The canvas, which is connected by a half-shell, turns out to be rigid and dense.

When knitting on the hook, there is always one loop left. Insert the hook into the next loop, pull out the working thread and immediately pass it through the loop on the hook. The result is as in the photo.

  2. Column with two or more cuffs.

The more the capers, the more openwork your product will be. This kind of knitting is used to create lighter things and summer clothes.

The whole process is similar to knitting crochet stitches. Only the number of knitted loops is changed and this is connected with the number of capes. It is important to remember that you always bind only 2 loops.

  3. Lush column.

This is an exclusively decorative element. Most often used in clothing. Bound from any yarn - it looks beautiful, from mohair, from cotton. Uneasy for a beginner. But as soon as you master the columns with crochets, this element ceases to be difficult.

To create a magnificent column it is necessary to unbind several columns with a crochet. And they all knit together in one loop. That is, you make a napkin, insert a hook into the next loop, pull out the working thread and tie only the first 2 loops on the hook. Next, repeat all the operations in the same next loop and, as it were, bind the column with the crochet. You should have three such columns that are not tied to the end. And now you are grabbing the working thread and extending it through all 4 loops on the hook.

  4. A relief column.

As well as a magnificent column carries more decorative function. There are 2 types of relief columns: concave and convex. It all depends on the purpose of knitting. On children's booties, to create a side, knit convex. On any clothing and accessories can be alternating concave and convex columns. This is necessary to create an original and very beautiful product.

Relief bars are created starting from the second row of the product, because they are tied to the posts of the previous row.

These are all the main types of crochets.
