Thanks to effective rejuvenating effects on the skin, retinoid use has long been popular. They stimulate the skin's own production of collagen, while they also help in the fight against acne and skin rashes. The principle of their action is the effect in the nuclei of skin cells on specific receptors, which leads to the elimination of provoking factors that contribute to the appearance of acne. Reducing the secretion of sebum and changing its composition, retinoids significantly reduce the risk of inflammation.
Retinoic ointment
Retinoic ointment contributes to the reduction of sebum production, the removal of inflammatory processes, excludes the possibility of post-acne scars, comedones and cystic formations. The ointment also has an exfoliating effect, that is, removes the horny layer of the epithelium, helps reduce the size of the sebaceous glands, improves the emptying of their ducts, and stimulates the renewal of skin cells. However, the use of retinoic ointment is allowed only after consultation and appointment of a dermatologist, who must choose the optimal treatment regimen.
Such features of retinoid drugs, such as embryotoxicity and teratogenicity, exclude the possibility of their use during pregnancy and lactating mothers. In the first week of applying retinoic ointment, aggravation of acne may occur, which is manifested in skin itching, the appearance of new rashes and reddening of the skin. Within a few days, such a reaction must pass, after which, in most cases, the skin condition improves significantly, while the result remains stable. One of the side effects of the ointment may become sensitivity to sunlight, so it is recommended that during the treatment period, less time be spent in the sun.
Adapalen
This remedy also applies to the retinoid group, but has a more modern formula and fewer side effects. Ada Palen possesses sebostatic, anti-medogenic and anti-inflammatory action. Although the drug has a small number of possible side effects, it is still not recommended to use it for pregnant and lactating mothers.
The second group of agents for problem skin include antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs. A feature of their action is not the fight directly with acne, but the effect on the causes of their appearance, namely, on inflammation and bacteria. The use of antibacterial drugs has both positive and negative sides. The positive effect is manifested in the reduction of inflammatory eruptions, however, suppressing the pathogenic microflora, antibacterial preparations destroy useful flora, which leads to a decrease in the immunity of the skin.
Zinerit
Zinerite is a combined drug with erythromycin-zinc complex and belongs to the group of macrolide antibiotics. This drug has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effect on the problem skin, helps reduce sebum secretion and the number of white and black dots.
This group of drugs for the treatment of problematic skin also includes Dalatsin, Epiderm, Benzamycin and others. Again, you can apply them only after consulting a dermatologist, who must develop an individual treatment regimen.
