How to distinguish breast cancer from cyst?

Taking a shower, I accidentally felt the seal in my chest. My eyes darkened, my blood throbbed in my temples - and I sat down on the edge of the tub. The most terrible fears were attacked from all sides. Wrapped in a towel and not wiping, wandered on the Internet. To my surprise, it turned out that various kinds of compaction and nodules can not be unequivocally treated as an oncology. Most of them are not related to cancer. From the heart it eased, but to completely calm down, I signed up for a doctor. After a thorough conversation with the mammologist, he made a kind of cheat sheet: what is considered the norm, and what requires immediate intervention. How to distinguish breast cancer from a cyst and how to prevent its appearance?

If you have: small nodules in the chest

It can be: mastopathy . Dyshormonal changes in breast tissue affect very many women (more than 60%, according to experts). Painful sensations may or may not be present (preferably the second option). Researchers do not fully understand the cause of what is happening, but place much of the blame on the hormones that are responsible for the normal functioning of the mammary glands. If at least one of the 17 fails, there is trouble.

Do not panic: for diffuse mastopathy, surgery is not required. But you must always consult a specialist, be examined and identify the cause of the changes. Breasts react to malfunctioning of the thyroid gland, adrenal glands and ovaries. It is this trio that stands behind most women's problems. Starting from the results of the tests, the doctor will prescribe a treatment or observation. If there are no pains and tests are in order, you just need to show the doctor 2 times a year and drink vitamins. And although, indeed, the problem with age can worsen, it does not represent a danger to life. Try: to limit coffee and all drinks containing caffeine - they increase the painful sensations in 50% of women. Black tea, coca-cola, chocolate are also considered. Salt retains the liquid, so its amount is also desirable to reduce. Try to give up cigarettes - nicotine in your case is extremely undesirable. Also ask the doctor to advise the multivitamins developed specially for women.

If you: a tight round ball

It can be: a fibroadenoma or a cyst. It is difficult to distinguish one from the other by touch. The first is more common in young women under the age of 30, the second in ladies is slightly older (from 30 to 55 years). Unlike malignant, it easily "moves" inside. When probed, it resembles a rather dense rubber ball, solid and round. The size can be less beans, and can reach the size of a goose egg. In most cases, it does not cause painful sensations.

Do not panic: classical fibroadenoma does not degenerate into cancer (the number of recorded cases is so small that it does not allow talking about some kind of risk). But, you need not postponing to seem a mammologist. If the tumor is up to 1 cm, the doctor will simply observe its "behavior." In the case of active growth, the compaction is surgically removed. As for the cyst, it also does not pose a danger to life (in 80% of cases it does not pass into cancer). Although doctors note that the risk of oncological disease in these patients is higher than in healthy people. The fluid inside the cyst can become inflamed and regenerate, so it is necessary to treat it and, most importantly, in a timely manner.

Try: now they do not operate all by themselves, because the practice has shown that a new seal is formed at the site of the remote compaction. According to statistics, 25% fibroadenum decreases in size and resolves, as much as, on the contrary, increases. And about 50% remain the same. Therefore, they try to treat it conservatively: with vitamins, phytopreparations, progesterone in the composition of ointments. And only 20-30% of cases require surgery. Now about cysts. If they are small, that is, they are not probed, but are visible only on ultrasound, they can be treated conservatively (non-surgically). Of the large (the doctor feels the seals with his fingers), the needle is pumped out of the liquid and given for cytological examination. After such procedures, the walls of the cysts are glued together and no longer filled.

If you: discharge from the nipples

It can be: inflammation of the milk duct. Diffuse mastopathy, intraprostatic papilloma or cancer. There are several options, so you should not assume the worst. After 40 years, this condition develops in 1 out of 4 women. Other symptoms: soreness, tightness, redness, swelling, pain. Only a doctor can accurately diagnose.

Do not panic: if the color of discharge is yellowish, greenish, brownish, it is most likely an inflammation of the milk duct or a symptom of diffuse mastopathy. Colostrum, bloody, transparent with a pink tint signal about more serious changes. Do not rush to conclusions. First you need to pass the smears, undergo a complete examination and only then be determined with treatment. Try: in most cases, anxiety from the side of the chest is the intrigues of hormones. To stabilize the background, doctors recommend maintaining both a healthy weight and a normal rest-work regime. It is equally important to sleep regularly (for 7-8 hours), give time to sports (30-60 minutes a day) and have sex. Try to be less nervous. It helps to cope with stress massage, a warm bath and even shopping. Mastopathy quickly progresses after nervous shocks.

If you have: a static seal under the skin

It can be: a malignant tumor. Time to beat the alarm and, without losing a minute to consult a doctor. Disturbing symptoms that should alert you: nipple retraction and the presence of ulcers, external skin changes (lemon rind), swelling, redness, change in shape. The compaction of such a plan does not have clear outlines and moves along with the skin. Do not panic: the sooner a doctor reveals malignant education, the easier it will be to cope with it. After a series of examinations (ultrasound, mammography, MRI), you will be given a biopsy and sent tissue samples for histological examination. Based on the findings, the doctor will prescribe the treatment. Try: do not sunbathe topless - neither on the beach, nor in the solarium. The sun's rays promote the growth of even benign formations. Be sure to have regular examinations with a specialist and follow all the prescribed recommendations.
