We all look forward to the advent of summer and the joys associated with it: bathing, sunbathing, trips to nature and outdoor walks. But along with the clear summer days comes the heat, which is hard to tolerate even many adults, not to mention the little kids. And although caring parents are struggling to protect their kids from the torment associated with the heat, but sometimes, unwittingly, by their care they can harm the child. To avoid this, you need to first understand the question: how to protect the little crumb from the heat and make it so that the summer would benefit him?
In summer, many mothers prefer not to walk with the child in the heat, but sit at home under the air conditioning or fan. This is not right, because fresh air is the guarantee of the health of the baby! Therefore, in no case should it be because of the heat limit the child's stay on the street. And in order to avoid dangerous overheating, you should choose the optimal and safe time for walking. It is best to walk until 11 am and after 18 pm. But at noon, when the sun is at its zenith, it is better to sit at home, not forgetting to moisten the air in the apartment with the help of a spray or a special moisturizer.
If the weather is not hot and there is no rain, it is advisable to spend as much time as possible on the street with the baby. If desired, you can even feed and change the child without going home. If the baby is breastfed, try to find a quiet place and feed it with breast. If on the artificial - you can take a thermos bottle with warm water for the mixture and, preparing the mixture on the street, feed the baby when the time for feeding is right. Young mothers should know that walking just before bedtime not only acts on the baby as a sleeping pill, but also strengthens its nervous system.
Create in the summer time in the apartment comfortable for a baby microclimate will help the air conditioning. However, when using it, in order not to harm the child's health, several mandatory rules should be adhered to:
- Do not install the air conditioner in the room where the baby is sleeping. If it is still installed in the baby's bedroom, then it is desirable to include it only when the baby is in another room or while walking on the street. Being in a room with the conditioner turned on can cause the child to hypothermia and provoke a cold, and even inflammation of the lungs.
- It is desirable that the temperature in the room is lower than the street temperature by no more than 5 degrees. In a small child, natural thermoregulation is not yet fully formed, so sharp temperature changes are contraindicated.
- If very hot, then the temperature in the room should be lowered very gradually, bringing it to a comfortable mark. But, in any case, it should be at least 24 degrees.
- If the child is in a room with a working air-conditioner, it is necessary to ensure that the cold air does not blow on the baby, and the power of the air conditioner was minimal.
No doubt, sunbathing is very useful for the baby, as it contributes to the production of vitamin D by the body. But we must remember that the skin of a young child is very tender and burns much faster than the skin of an adult. Therefore, a child under 3 years of age is generally not allowed to be exposed to direct sunlight - only in the shade. Sunbaths a small child can take no longer than 10-15 minutes and either until 10 am, or after 17 hours, when the sun is not at its zenith.
And still, walking with the child on a hot summer day, mothers must observe the necessary safety measures:
- From time to time, it is necessary to moisten the baby's skin, wiping it with a damp cotton cloth. But at the same time, wind and drafts should be avoided so that the child does not get cold.
- If the weather is very sunny, you can smear the exposed areas of the child's body with sunscreen, which, when you come home, should be washed off immediately, as the baby's skin is very sensitive to any "chemistry" and an allergic reaction may occur in the form of cutaneous rashes.
- To avoid overheating, you can use special children's cooling sprays, sold in pharmacies. They are very convenient to use and help the baby to transfer heat more easily.
- To sweat does not cause irritation to the delicate skin of the baby, in the heat it should often be bathed, paying special attention to cervical and inguinal folds. At the same time, we must not forget to use baby powder, which helps to avoid diaper rash.
- Baby clothes should be made of natural cloth, for example, cotton. The child should always wear a panama on the child's head, which will protect it from sunlight so that there is no sunstroke.
