Shemag is a traditional Arabic handkerchief. In different countries it is also called gutra, kefia or mashad, but in Russia it was named after the arafat. Such a name arose as a derivative on behalf of Yasser Arafat - a Palestinian leader who wore an Arab kerchief even with a military jacket.
