Stuffy nose or how to cure a cold

Look around - anywhere, even though in the trolley, you'll probably notice several people at once, who squelch and snort, loudly blow their nose because they have a stuffy nose . Someone in their hands has disposable handkerchiefs (napkins).

Treat or not treat

What is a common cold is a trifle, a matter of everyday life or, after all, a disease that needs to be dealt with? Rhinitis, or rhinitis, is an inflammation of the nasal mucosa with pronounced edema; it is associated with the expansion of blood vessels. In the formation of this edema there is a great biological sense: viruses and bacteria get stuck in a viscous liquid that prevents the spread of infection, dissolves and neutralizes toxic substances.
This, of course, is wonderful and comforting, but what do those who now and then climb into the pocket of a soaked handkerchief? Of course, go to the nearest pharmacy and buy funds from the common cold - they are there as many as you want.

Vasoconstrictive drugs

These topical drugs narrow the blood vessels, thereby delaying the "faint" fluid in the small arteries and veins. The active substance of such drugs is most often xylometazoline or naphazoline. This group includes all known sanorin, naphthysine, as well as galazoline, nasivin, xylen, otrivin and olint. Sometimes vasoconstrictors are combined with anti-histamine (sanorin-analgesin) to, if possible, remove the allergic component of rhinitis.
Vasoconstrictive in the form of a nasal spray and drops for adults and children (in children's drops - less than the active substance). The spray favorably differs from drops, with its help the nose receives medicines exactly as much as necessary, in addition, the drug is evenly distributed over the mucous membrane. (But drops also favorably differ from the spray - at a price.) Those who remove the leak from the nose with droplets do not need to throw their head back, as the medicine is intended for the upper and middle parts of the nose, and not for the stomach.

How to properly dig in the nose

Burying in the nose, the person throws back his head. After a few seconds, he feels a burning sensation - but not in the nose, but in the throat and throat. Of course, part of the medication is delayed in the nose, but only a part. The rest is transit.
What to do, so that the drug still got there, where should it fall - into the nasal passages? Lie down on your side, under the head should be a small flat pillow. Make a swallowing movement, but not until the end, as if to hold it - so you close the gap between the nose and the pharynx through which it flies, the medicine slips. Now drip it into the nostril, which is facing the pillow, and try-for some time. Do not breathe (you can even hold your nostril with your fingers). A minute later the "swept" nostril begins to breathe. Now turn over on the other side and repeat the procedure with the second nostril.
