Training of animals with different levels of organization

Many of us are faced with the difficult task of weaning our adored dog to howl and bark when he remains at home alone. I'll tell you how we managed to overcome this with Mike. Training animals with different levels of organization is the topic of our conversation.

To once again not injure neighbors, I decided to study with a dog not at home, but on the street. We trained like this. I tied my boy to a tree and slowly started to walk away from him. If Mike barked loudly - I kept moving away, if I whined - then I left more slowly. If he fell silent, I stopped. Then, after a little standing, I turned around and started moving as slowly towards the dog. If he whined at the same time - I stopped. If barked - I turned around and started to leave my dog. Just need to be very attentive and listen to what sounds the animal publishes.

We repeated the exercise more than a dozen times. But in the end, they did it!

However, there is one more important point . Before leaving for work, I Mike walked very well - with games, jogs. Then he came home a little tired and after eating he was not averse to sleeping. Also, I advise you to drive a dog to the site for classes. Physical exercises and emotions will not allow her to howl from boredom when the owner is not at home.

Leaving for a whole day at work, you need to leave your four-footed friend a pair of favorite toys, a "long-playing" bone or a dried pig's ear, so that he could play at leisure. Sometimes owners practice leaving a light or even a radio for their pet. It is noticed that some pets do not feel so lonely.

It is impossible, the road!

If the dog lives in a larger city, it simply needs to be accustomed to the fact that the road is a restricted area. And you can not go without the owner's command. Otherwise - expect trouble. And training, in my opinion, should be carried out in several stages.

To begin with, walk near the road, keeping the dog on a leash. In case she tries to run after the car, you need to make a jerk and give the command: "You can not, the road!" If you are preparing to cross the road, you should hear the command: "Stop, road!" When you cross with the dog, cross the roadway together, before thus commanding her "Nearby!" So you have to go more than once to work out "roadside" behavior to automatism.

When you managed to master the first stage of training animals with different levels of organization, you can move on to a more complex second. At this level, you will have to use either a longer leash, or throw it on the ground, so that in case of it it would be enough to just step on it and thus stop the harmful impulse of your dog. So your pet will increase the degree of independence in making a decision. In my opinion, this method is quite laborious, however, as practice shows, it is quite effective. In any case, my pupils learned to behave like this on the road.

Who is the leader in the pack?

What if you put a lot of effort into raising your dog, but the expected effect was not achieved? That is, in many important issues, your four-legged friend has remained manageable. If so, then this is a good reason to think about. In my deep conviction, a dog can do this and not because it is uncontrollable by nature, but because you yourself allow it to be like that. Simply put, you just could not properly build a hierarchy.

If you are the master, then you are the leader of this pack, even if it consists of two individuals-you and the dog. And with all the friendly feelings between you and the pet, your role as leader should remain.

Do you allow your dog to climb to his bed? If so, then you let her know that she is with you (the leader) on the same level.

Do you feed it first and then eat it yourself? After all, traditionally the leader eats first, the rest-only anticipate eating, dropping drooling. If your dog usually eats first, then the animal has every reason to consider you, lower in rank. Besides, do you feed it from your table, that is, do you share your food? After all, in fact, the leader has the right to take food from any member of the pack. The leader walks in the door and leaves them first, behind him - all the others ... Think, how does this usually happen in your house? It is the leader who starts and finishes games, and the leader can not be bothered when he rests.

From all this, it is worthwhile inferring to what extent you are the leader of your pack. And, if there is a need, revise, first of all, your own behavior.

If the owner does not manage to establish contact with his pet and he notices that the dog has become nervous and even aggressive, it is worth reviewing the diet of his four-legged friend. Also, a dog can become uncontrollable if it lives in a very noisy family. It is social stress that can affect it so much, that it becomes excessively active and disobedient.

What if the four-legged friend does not behave as usual, and these changes do not please your family members at all?

How to achieve obedience

On a walk my dog reluctantly approaches my call. I heard that there is an electroshock collar that will help get rid of problems in behavior. I want to know more about him.

Electroshock collar, or ESHO, is a complex instrument, which you only need to work with under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Like any other equipment used to train and train dogs, it is not bad or good, but its misuse can seriously harm the dog.

All modern ESOs have several modes of action-vibration, a regulator of the degree of impact, short and long pulses. Using these functions competently, you can correct unwanted behavior or improve the execution of commands. But it is not recommended to apply ESO for initial training of animals with different levels of organization. These collars affect the most sensitive area of the dog - the neck, where the vital arteries are located.

Dogs, like other animals , protect this area, and any impact on it, especially electric current, causes panic. And the first stage of working out the team "To me" is always based on positive emotions and the desire of the dog to approach the owner.

Give the dog to understand that approaching you may be interesting. Buy a toy in the pet store for joint games (a ball on a rope, a soft rag roller). Showing a toy to a dog and getting interested in it, play with it in "tug-of-war". After a short struggle, give her a toy, and as soon as she loses interest in you and tries to escape - get the second toy and ask to continue the game.

The dog celebrates the need for an apartment

A few months ago, the Labrador male of two years began to cope with a small need at home. This happens at any time, sometimes immediately after a walk. He does it only when no one sees him. What is it related to and how to get rid of this bad habit?

The reasons for this behavior can be many. The first reason to be excluded is health problems. Due to hypothermia or infection of the urino-genital organs, the dog may experience frequent urination. Hand over the tests and consult a veterinarian.

Another reason for this phenomenon may be the puberty of the male and the need to mark the territory - the dog leaves tags at places of food intake, on the things of the owners, in the bedroom or the nursery, on the corners of the furniture.

You can buy a box at the pet store for transporting dogs or a collapsible cage and close the pet there immediately after a walk or when you can not control it. Most dogs are clean and will not do their work on the litter in a limited space. At the same time, increase the number of walks and encourage the dog with a voice and a delicacy every time she celebrates a small need on the street.

Sometimes the reason for this behavior may be jealousy of other family members, for example, children. Dogs are very emotional and have a hard time experiencing moments when children begin to devote more time and try to draw the owners' attention to themselves. But, if the dog is jealous of you towards children, you can not scold and punish her for making a puddle.

With regular punishments, she will receive from you the attention she aspires to, and over time this behavior can become obtrusive, and it will be virtually impossible to correct it.

Our pet really does not like to stay at home alone. As soon as we all leave the apartment, he starts to howl loudly, and this can last the whole day. This is very displeasing to our neighbors, and they are begging us to do something to stop this howl. Advise how to make the dog behave calmly in our absence?

Howling is a typical means of communication for a lonely dog. There are different ways to wean a pet from this unwanted habit, but they all require determination and a certain amount of time. Try to limit your communication with the dog, for example, through the "Place" command half an hour before your departure and after returning home.

Do not punish the dog for howling - so you pay attention to it, and that's what she's trying to achieve. A gum bone or a favorite toy that she can play after you leave will help to distract her attention. Another exercise can be worked out when you are at home. Try to simulate your "care" by closing the dog in another room, or, having got dressed, leave the apartment for a few minutes. Beforehand, give the dog the command "Place" and then after a short pause, go.

If the dog behaved decently, praise her for calm behavior with a delicacy and voice. Repeat this exercise every day.
