Usually these bags are filled with powder, obtained from dried aromatic herbs, which have been grinded with the addition of essential oils, resins. Sometimes artificial flavors are used instead of natural flavors.
In ancient times, sachets with herbs were widely distributed, and every self-respecting hostess in the house necessarily had these little fragrant pads or bags. To make a powder for a sachet will not be difficult. Powders from the selected plants are mixed, then sieved through a not very frequent sieve. The screen should be closed (on the likeness of a drum), this will preserve the smell of plants.
To preserve the smell of herbs, concentrated resin is added to the powder mixture, which is ground with carbonic magnesia or iris root. To the powder should be added as much essential oil as it can absorb.
After the powder is cooked, do not immediately fill them with bags - the powder should stand for several days, and then the resins and aromatic oils are completely absorbed into the powder. If this is not done, the finished sachets will become wet and covered with greasy stains, and of course no refinement and beauty will come out.
To fix the smell, musk is added to the powder - natural or artificial: musk is ground with fine quartz sand or with powdered pumice, also iris powder or magnesia (in the first two cases, the aroma of musk is completely transformed into powder). After the bag is filled, it should be carefully sewn, which will allow to retain the smell of herbs for a long time.

To fill the sachet, there are many recipes for powder mixtures that are used in aromatherapy, but there are compositions that are used more often than others. For example, mint with cloves, lemon with rosemary; lemon with lavender and rose; lavender with rose, lemon with incense; lavender, ylang-ylang and rose; cloves, rosemary and lemon are simple combinations, and plants are available to everyone.
But in order to create an intimate or romantic atmosphere in the room, special compositions of "love" are usually chosen, for example, in one part - rose petals, ginger, yarrow, lavender. In one part - cloves, rosemary, and chamomile, rose petals. In one part - flowers of jasmine and gardenia, two parts of an orange, three parts of rose petals. One part of the root of violets, two parts of rose petals, three parts of lavender.
There is another "love" composition: half the orange peel is pulverized, add red petals from three roses, powder gypsophila and sage and mix everything. The resulting mixture should be poured into a small pink silk pouch (this can be a miniature pincushion in the form of a heart) and worn around the neck.
White sachets in the form of a protective amulet can always be worn with you: 1 teaspoon flax seed, 1 dessert spoon of cumin seeds, 1 tablespoon of dill seeds, 1 handful of shallow salt.
To protect the house use sachets with salt: 1 handful of salt, 1 teaspoon of fennel and dill seeds, 1 tablespoon of rosemary, 1 tablespoon of dry basil, small leaf of fern and bay leaf - all this is placed in a red pouch. Then the highest place is sought in the dwelling, after which the bag should be put there.
To protect the car using a red sachet: two parts of juniper and rosemary, one part of wormwood, caraway, a comfrey chemist and a crystal of quartz are put in a pouch. The bag should be hidden so that no one can find it.
To attract wealth, the sachet should be worn in a purse, near the purse: 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 dessert spoon of cloves, 1 tbsp. l. herbs patchouli, gold ring (wedding should not be put) - everything is put in a bag of green color.
