This amazing man was born in the village of Srostki, which was in the Altai Territory. He grew up in the family of ordinary peasants-middle peasants, who themselves earned their living, livestock and home. Probably the first negative to Soviet power Shukshin experienced when the father was forced to join the collective farm. However, it is worth noting that Makar Shukshin did not refuse collectivization and went to work as a mechanic. He was an excellent specialist, a master of his craft. All the villagers loved and respected him. But, the authorities still did not like something. Therefore, in 1933, Shukshin senior was arrested and repressed.
Shukshin's mother was left alone. She had two small children, farming, working on a collective farm. The woman just did not have time to do everything. She needed an assistant. All relatives had large families and farms, therefore, there was no help from anyone there. Shukshin's mother had only to find a new husband who could help her. In the end, she did so. His stepfather was a very kind person who really loved his mother. It would seem that now everything should fall into place and they will live happily. However, here again came grief - the Second World War began. Stepfather Basil went to the front, and a year later brought a funeral. The family again was left without a man and a breadwinner. At that time Vasya was already thirteen years old. Accordingly, he had to take everything on himself. He grew up in a very peculiar, closed person. Many peers simply did not understand him. For example, he did not like to be called Vasya, only Vasily. For this, and for many other things, he was often laughed at. And he did not explain anything to anyone. Instead, he went to the river and wandered there on the islands. It used to happen that Vasily could have been lost for several days. However, when he returned, immediately took up farming and always helped the family.
Vasily was a very responsible young man. He put the family at the head of everything. For example, a guy studied in an automotive technical school and could finish it. But, he realized that if he only studies, he will never feed his family in life. Therefore, Vasily Shukshin dropped his training and went looking for a suitable job for himself.
He worked as a welder, fitter, builder, in general, chose any job that suited him for payment. Then Vasily Shukshin finished training for radio operator and went to serve on the Black Sea Fleet. By the way, it is worth noting that Vasily had a beloved girl at the age of fifteen. Her name was Masha. With her, Shukshin met in his native village. When he served, Masha wrote him letters every day. And when Vasily was demobilized because of an ulcer, he returned to Masha, they played a wedding and began to live together. Those were good times. Basil finally, externally finished school and became a teacher in the school of rural youth. Then he tried to study in an automobile technical school, but, in the end, took a completely unexpected decision and went to Moscow. He announced to everyone that he wants to become a screenwriter, and for this he will definitely go to VGIK. And he did, with the director's faculty. In general, it might not have been accepted, if Mikhail Romm was not such a wise man. The fact is that Shukshin was a very simple man, one can say, in his own way, uncouth. He really turned out to be a genius from a people who never moved away from his roots.
While Vasily studied at VGIK, Masha studied in Novosibirsk. And, as is known, relations at a distance never last long. Therefore, Basil fell in love with another, and Masha understood him. But she always remembered this man and remembered him with a smile and warmth.
The debut of Shukshin in the cinema was brilliant. He played in the film "Quiet Flows the Don", and this was the beginning of his creative path. Then there was the film "Two Fyodor", which also caught many and many viewers. But, it is worth noting that Shukshin shone not only in the films. He also studied literature, and it turned out very well for him. From the third year Shukshin sent his stories to publishing houses. So he advised Romm. And not in vain. Since in the late sixties Shukshin's collections of short stories have already been published.
Shukshin created many wonderful works, played amazing roles, wrote scripts. Of course, in those years it was difficult to be like him. Vasily at one time drank heavily, but then tied it. Because he was too fond of his family, his daughter. He always remained a very sincere, bright and real person.
