Care of fuchsia flowers

Fuchsia is a beautiful flowering, evergreen shrub, but with dry air and at a low temperature of -7 degrees, it drops leaves. Has graceful flowers on thin pedicels, drooping, terry and simple, which grow alone or with brushes. Flowering is plentiful, begins with spring and ends in autumn. What care is needed for the colors of fuchsia?

Care of flowers

Reproduction of fuchsia flowers

In spring or summer we take cuttings up to 10 cm long having three pairs of leaves. Lower leaves are removed, and the cuttings immediately planted in the ground or placed in a vessel with water. For this purpose, a landless mixture of vermiculite, perlite, peat, in a ratio of 1: 1: 1 is suitable. Cuttings are conveniently placed in transparent 100 g cups, in which you can see how the roots are formed. Glasses put in a greenhouse, a simple version of which will be 2 plastic boxes from under the cake. Every 3 weeks we open the greenhouse and thus adapt our cuttings to the environment. The temperature of rooting is 23 degrees, in hot weather many cuttings die.

Wintering fuchsia

A difficult period in the life of fuchsia is wintering. These plants in winter are at rest and only partially discard the leaves. In winter we keep them on a light cool window and water less often. If you have a warmed balcony or loggias, there fuchsias feel fine there. Before wintering, long shoots are shortened to 2/3, weak ones are removed. Leaves cut off and get rid of pests. Watered as the earth dries up. In early March, the light day increases and the fuchsia "wakes up." Once again cut off, leaving 3 kidneys.

Transfer

After pruning in spring we take a pot that corresponds to the volume of the root system. As growth grows into a large pot, but if a small plant is planted in a large pot, this will lead to rotting roots and earth silt. Use earth mix, in a ratio of 1: 1: 1, perlite, turf land, humus and leafy earth.

Pinch fuchsia

When the awakened shoots grow, pinch the growth point after the third pair of leaves. To unbalance the growth of the bush, pinches all the shoots. After 2 weeks, still pinch after 3 pairs of leaves. Thus we get a fluffy compact bush. In April, we'll make the last pinch, so that young shoots grow and pick buds. After that fuchsia blooms in 8 weeks, it all depends on the variety (large terry - later, small - before).

Fuchsia feeding

During the summer, fuchsia spends a lot of effort on flowering and gaining a large leaf mass, they are responsive to fertilizing. In the spring, every week we introduce a complex fertilizer with a high nitrogen content. And for buds any fertilizer (Kemira-lux, Pokon), which is intended for flowering plants, will suit. The best fertilizing for flowering is fertilizer from the Planta series.

Watering fuchsia

We need to evenly water this plant, but do not fill it. Otherwise, the plant will die. If in the pot the soil after the previous watering is still wet, it is better not to water it. More often sprayed fuchsia in dry and hot weather and watered as necessary. Recently transplanted plants and rooted cuttings need very accurate watering.

Summer

In summer, fuchsia is taken out into a bright and not sunny place. A moderate sun is allowed in the morning and in the evening, so that it does not burn plants. In order not to break the flowers, we will protect fuchsia from strong winds. In hot weather, plants are sprayed from a small spray. In summer, the fuchsia feel good in the garden in a small shade or in the fresh air, on the balcony. To the roots of fuchsias do not overheat, we use white pots. If the plant stopped growing, there are no buds, then it lacks nutrition. Then it is transplanted into a pot of larger volume, so that the earth is nutritious. These flowers will do well if you add a little bit of the overgrown manure to the ground.

Care for Fuchsia is simple, you just need to use these tips and then your fuchsias will long please you with their beauty.
