Clematis growing and care

Councils and recommendations for the cultivation of clematis.
The variety of clematis is amazing. This plant can look so different that an unsophisticated lover may even think that this is a completely different kind. That is why these flowers are often chosen to decorate the flowerbed or garden.

Clematis can look like shrubs, half-shrubs, but most of them are lianas. Accordingly, the root system is also different. Plants with rooted roots are poorly transplanted, and with pomegranates are ideal for reproduction.

Cultivation of clematis

Seedling of the future flower can be grown and most of the seeds. But here it is necessary to take into account several factors, so that the venture will be successful:

To grow your own flower, it is better to use the seeds of the current year. Seeds soak for ten days in the water, changing it several times a day, so the seedlings will appear faster. After laying the seeds on the substrate, they need to be covered with glass or film and try to keep a stable temperature of 25-30 degrees.

Treatment of seedlings

Sprouted plants should have enough sunlight. But try to avoid direct sunlight. After the last frosts have passed, the pre-dive saplings are carried to the open ground. It is better if the site is slightly darkened and the ground is light. Sometimes it will be necessary to pluck the plants, so that they grow into more magnificent forms. In the autumn they are covered, in order to transplant the next spring into a deeper hole and periodically shorten them to form elastic roots.

Transplant the plant to a permanent place can only be in two or three years, when the seedlings of the flower will be fully formed. But if you are not ready for such long manipulations, you can buy ready-made saplings for your site.

Clematis planting

  1. Lighting. The season is suitable for anyone, of course, except for the winter. But the place will have a little more difficult. Clematis loves the sun and warmth, but it is better to choose such a site that in the midday heat of the plant were a bit in the shade.
  2. Humidity. Try to avoid landing near the house or the fence, so that the plants do not get too much rainwater. Ideally - place flowers on a natural hill or create it manually.
  3. Fertilizers. In no case do not pour plants with manure or peat. Acid organic fertilizers will only kill clematis.
  4. Technology. It is necessary to dig a large enough pit, and not to pour out its bottom rubble or broken brick for drainage. Form a mound of earth and put it on the fathoms. Carefully distribute the root and sprinkle the plant with earth. It is better to install in advance near the flower support, so that the lianas have a place to curl and what to cling to when the wind is strong.

Proper care

Clematis is a plant that is hygrophilous enough. Therefore it is better to water it once a week, and in dry summer even several times. For young plants, ten liters of liquid will suffice, and adults and large vines may require forty liters per irrigation.

Be sure to periodically loosen the soil, better the next day after watering. So you will not only effectively fight the weeds, but also help moisture evenly distributed in the ground.

Adult plants are suitable for reproduction, but not older than six years. gently dig it out of the ground and divide the roots into separate seedlings.

Diseases and pests

The most common disease of clematis is the fungus, which lives in the ground. First, the root system is damaged, then the stems and leaves begin to rot and fade.

To fight the disease, remove the affected area and treat the flower and ground around it with a solution of foundation. But if the plant is severely damaged, it will have to be removed completely together with the ground, and the site of planting should be disinfected with the same solution.
