Does sunburn affect oncological diseases?

From the point of view of the process of sunburn, there is not much difference between a southern or marine and river tan. However, in the southern latitudes the intensity of ultraviolet radiation in the sun is higher. Therefore, the tan appears quickly on the sea, but the risk of burning is much higher. Southern tan is usually more beautiful - golden brown. It is caused by an increase in the melanin content in the skin in response to ultraviolet irradiation. Let's find out whether sunburn affects oncological diseases or not.

Diseases of skin cancer and breast cancer

Sunburn causes premature aging of the skin (in case of excessive exposure to the sun - more than 30 minutes per day). Increases the risk of a solar or heat stroke. What is the difference between a sea tan and a river tan or got in a solarium? Can everyone use self-tanning products? How to choose the right sunscreen? We will answer the hottest questions. At sea, we get much more not direct, but reflected UV radiation. After all, the sun's rays are reflected from virtually any surface. If we are sunbathing on a grassland near Moscow, the amount of reflected radiation will be only 20%, and 80% will be absorbed by the grass. On a sandy beach this ratio will be reversed, and the sun's rays reflect more from the water than they are absorbed. That is why river or country tanning "grows" more slowly than the southern one. The second distinctive feature of such a tan is - often the skin acquires a grayish shade. This is due to the fact that the skin in response to irradiation, has time to react not only by the deposition of melanin, but also by the thickening of the superficial stratum corneum. This is also a protective skin reaction to photodamage, but in the south it is not so noticeable, as the deposition of melanin is more intense. On the other hand, the southern tan for the same reason and leaves faster, as the pigment sluschivaetsya together with cells of the epidermis from the surface of the skin.

Sunburn is capable of much, both bad and good, for example:

• May intensify acne.

• Causes photoaging. Tanning in the middle zone of Russia, do not forget about the means of protection from insects (especially dangerous mites).

In solariums, in contrast to the natural sun, the range of ultraviolet radiation is clearly dosed, which makes it easier to control it. However, the solarium is just as harmful to the skin as the burning sun. Moreover, the radiation power of solarium lamps is several times greater than the power of the sun's rays. Therefore, they should not be abused, "stuck" in the capsule for more than 10 minutes. For sunburn in the solarium, some people "sit down", like drugs. This is due to the fact that with the UV-irradiation in the brain hormones of pleasure are produced endorphins, the mood rises. Sunburn obtained in the solarium requires support, without which the skin becomes dull and grayish. This also forms dependence on the solarium. Like any other form of dependence, such a "solarium-mania" does not lead to anything good. Regular and intensive bombardment of the skin with powerful UV rays in the solarium is fraught with premature aging of the skin and an increased risk of cancer not only of the skin, but also of the internal organs, especially the breast, thyroid, and large intestine. The fact that some drugs can cause photosensitivity, that is, on the background of their reception, the skin becomes much more sensitive to UV radiation, the risk of sunburn and the development of unwanted pigmentation increases. If you do not recommend sunbathing for health reasons, then the solarium is also contraindicated.

Harmful or useful tan?

It all depends on the dose. In response to the sun's rays, the skin starts to produce vitamin D, necessary to maintain a balance of calcium and strengthen bones. This is especially important for residents of northern latitudes, since for most of the year we have only the face and hands open to the sun. The sun stimulates immunity, helps fight depression. At the same time, scientists have clearly proved that 80% of the signs of aging of open areas of the body and, first of all, of the face are due to photoaging (associated with solar radiation). The UV rays of type A (UFA) and type B (UVB) have a harmful effect on the structure of the skin. UVB rays can cause skin burns. It is the indicator of protection against this type of irradiation and is indicated on sunscreen means (SPF). UVA radiation does not cause burns, but can penetrate deeper into the skin, causing collagen damage, drying out the skin and increasing the risk of cancer. Therefore, choosing a sunscreen, you need to pay attention not so much to the value of the SPF-factor, as to the presence of not only UVB, but UVA filters, the stability of the means for flushing with water and sand.

If the thickness of the stratum corneum on different parts of the face or body is not the same, the auto-tanning can appear unevenly, stains. To avoid this, before applying self-tanning, make a thorough peeling with scrubs or other exfoliating products that smooth the surface of the skin. The use of auto-tanning agents of well-known manufacturers of cosmetic products is safe for the skin (if not, of course, allergies). However, to get the skin a smooth swarthy tint, tanning should be updated every 2-3 days, and for its uniform application requires some skill, otherwise the skin is inevitable divorce and dark spots.
