Fashion of the twentieth century

Fashion - the lady is windy, changeable. In our time, fashion can change dramatically almost every season. But what was the fashion of the 19-20 century for shoes. What kind of shoes were worn, which was actual?

At the end of the 18th century, a revolution took place in France. It influenced not only the political situation in the country and throughout Europe, but also affected the shoe fashion. So under the ban were his heels. Women have not worn them for more than fifty years. Women's shoes of the Napoleonic era in their appearance resemble today's slippers dancers. At that time, the idea of simplifying the way of life was rooted everywhere. These simplifications concerned everything: life, world outlook, customs, clothes and shoes. Many philosophers, doctors and just influential people talked about the harm to the health of corsets, shoes with high heels and too narrow shoes. And listened to them. Paris women of fashion began to make themselves short haircuts, to wear light dresses and to put on elegant sandals on a flat sole. But Napoleon Bonaparte did not approve of these innovations. And so the dresses with cumbersome crinolines and pulling corsets returned to fashion again. But they gave up shoes with high heels. Both women and men wore shoes made of silk, velvet or soft leather.

The ensuing era of the Enlightenment did not leave the shoe fashion aside. Around the middle of the 19th century, soft silk shoes were replaced by practical boots made of comfortable leather. The form becomes more strict, rigid. More and more models appear on laces or clasps. Among the most popular models of footwear of that time, you can call half-boots on an average heel-glass. Such low boots adorned with fur.

Fashion of the 20th century made its changes in shoes. Now the footwear emphasizes the outline of the foot. Asymmetrical insoles are manufactured. In the twenties of last century, sandals were very popular. After the Second World War, in the conditions of general shortage, shoe makers experiment with various materials. The light appears models of canvas, rubber, felt, polyethylene and even kapron. Not simple shoemakers, but famous artists and designers began to work on the creation of shoes. But, no matter what, shoes remained an indicator of social belonging. So aristocrats wore sharp-pointed shoes with a figured heel and narrow in the foot.

All kinds of materials are used for making shoes: satin, silk, leather, suede. Boots are made on buttons, on laces, on tapes, hooks or without fasteners at all. Men mostly wore boots or shtiblets. In the course were also half boots.

In Russia the situation was somewhat different than in Europe. Russian shoemakers, who worked in the early twentieth century, called the tops. This nickname they received for the fact that their workshops were very small and kept away from people. Masters worked like lone wolves - hence the name. Most of the shoe shops were in the Marina Grove. Here, fashioners flocked not only from all over Russia, but also from abroad.

In general, the 20th century is rich in new inventions, including in the fashion shoe. Over the past hundred years, many models and styles of shoes were invented, as our ancestors did not elaborate for all the previous time. Modern technologies and materials have simplified the process of making footwear. Its practicality has increased. Today, the popularity of the new shoe model is about nine weeks. Modern masters of shoe production are not technically limited by anything. Therefore, they can realize any idea, any idea.

This is the fashion of the 19-20 century for shoes. This is only a small digression into the history of shoes. In general, almost every model, every style of shoes has its own small, and maybe a great story. Fashion is constantly changing and it is not known what will come to mind to designers, and what we will wear in a few years.
