Gifted children: problems, the search for ways of education and training

The label "gifted child" has recently become fashionable - even if there are no good reasons for its use. When it is used by parents, it is understandable. If it is voiced by a psychologist, then this is a verdict, a reference point for other specialists. Psychology to date does not represent the nature of giftedness. Psychologists can only offer various solutions to this problem. The theme of our today's article is "Gifted children: problems, the search for ways of education and training."

Firstly - children are talented without exception, each is gifted, in his own way. This approach does not determine the specificity of the concept of "giftedness". With this approach to teaching and upbringing, there is a search for ways of upbringing and learning, as well as a "key" for the discovering ability of the child and the development of methods for their development. In this case, the question arises, why do children who shine in childhood lose their talent in the future? Secondly - giftedness as a gift, which the chosen are endowed. Then it becomes urgent to identify gifted children.

One of the myths is the prevailing view of a gifted child as a difficult child. They are afraid to work with teachers, parents are concerned, and peers can accept unfriendly.

Work with these children is usually built in a certain way: individual classes, special schools, individually selected programs. It must be understood that giftedness is not only the child's extraordinary abilities, but also the emergence of various problems in the development of his personality.

A gifted child in the family - stereotyped approaches to education break down, and more attention is needed to it. Families of gifted children are different in their attitude towards the child. But all of them are united by the desire to get high results from the upbringing of their children. Self-evaluation of a child directly depends on the evaluation of the parents. The fear that he does not justify waiting for his loved ones has a negative impact on the child's psyche.

The emerging difficulties in teaching gifted children are the problems of socialization and normal entry into the peer group. There is provocative pedagogy for gifted children. In education, the intensive development of certain abilities is often purposefully built, not taking into account the development of the child and the presence of motivation for such training. The child is placed in a number of gifted, and the structure of giftedness has not yet formed. As a result, the child acquires problems, both in person and in training.

A negative consequence of provoked early development will be a child's pre-school period inadequate. Such children, upon admission to school, can not regulate their behavior and activities.

Giftedness can be based, as on a springboard, on high abilities, only under the condition of careful attitude of adults. Parents of such children should be attentive to the formation of the child's personality - then not only "Virtuoso" but "Creator" will grow out of it.

Teaching programs for gifted children are different from ordinary curricula. Such children are able to quickly grasp the meaning of principles, concepts and provisions. Therefore, a broad generalizing material is required. In teaching gifted children, more independent work should be present and develop the child's ability to learn.

The main training systems for gifted children will be acceleration and enrichment. But the debate over the acceleration in training is not stopping. Acceleration is still a change in the speed of learning, not its content. If the level and speed of training do not correspond to the needs, then we harm his cognitive and personal development of the child. The acceleration strategy is recommended for teaching children with a mathematical bias and the ability to learn foreign languages. It is also used, such types of acceleration as - early admission to school or transfer of a student through a class. When translating through the class, there are no social and emotional problems, discomfort and gaps in learning.

Giftedness is an outstanding ability, manifested in any sphere of human activity, and not only in the academic field. Giftedness is achievement and opportunity to achieve. The point is - you need to take into account the abilities that have already manifested, and which can manifest. Thus, from the point of view of psychological science, it should be noted that giftedness represents a complex mental object. Now you know who such gifted children, problems, searches, ways of education and training are very important for them, and parents should approach this issue with all responsibility.
