How to organize a workplace for a student

It is not far off that time when your child will be completely immersed in studies. To ensure that when doing homework, the child does not have negative feelings, it is recommended to create a house appropriate for this situation. This article gives several recommendations on how to organize a workplace for a student.

The child should not be distracted at his workplace, it should be convenient and have the ability to successfully complete assignments from the school.

Table

Do not forget that furniture must necessarily be in accordance with the growth and age of the child. The best solution in this case can be the purchase of a table-transformer, in which you can adjust the height. It can cost you more than a regular table, but it will save you further on buying a new table when the baby grows up.

When the child grows 110-119 cm, the table top should not be more than 52 cm high, but if the height exceeds 120 cm, then it makes sense to purchase a table above 60 cm. Use the basic rule when choosing a table: its edge should be lower than the chest level by a segment in a few centimeters, so that the sitting schoolboy was comfortable to lean on the table with his elbows.

If your plan is to provide your favorite student with a computer, then when choosing a table, pay attention to the availability of a special place for the monitor and a sliding panel for the keyboard. And in addition, the table should have such necessary sections as the place for CDs, shelves, on which the printer and scanner will be placed.

Alternatively, instead of a standard table, you can buy a L-shaped, if the size of the room does not interfere with it. Then your child will have the opportunity for one part of the table to read and write, and the other will be given to the computer. And do not forget about the set of departments and shelves - it should have the same departments as in the usual table.

Chair

In this case, too, it is recommended to give preference to the "transformer", while it would be excellent if adjustment was possible not only in height, but also the angle of inclination of the back. You will understand that the child's landing is correct when you see that his feet are completely on the floor, and the knee bend is equal to the right angle. In the case when the chair is purchased "for growth", put something under your feet to keep your feet touching the floor. You can use a stack of thick books, if you can not do something with your own hands. However, do not overdo it with an improvised stand: remember that the legs should not support the table.

When adjusting the back of the chair, pay attention to the fact that the student does not lean on the table, and not too lean back. When a child reads or writes something, the distance between the edge of the table and the chest should be 8-10 cm.

For the final confirmation that your student is sitting properly and the furniture is suitable, you can conduct another test: put the child at the table, let him put his elbow on the table and let this hand reach the corner of his eye. When everything is correctly selected, the fingers are unlikely to touch the face.

Lighting

When organizing a workplace for a schoolboy, consider when you will put out the light that he should shine to the left of the child, in which case the shadow from the right hand will be thrown away from the textbook or notebook, and will not interfere. If your child is left-handed, then it's worth doing everything exactly the opposite. The table is positioned best of the side of the window, so that the kid is sitting with his back against the wall. In this case, a sharp drop in the level of light can cause visual impairment.

A lamp must always be present for the child to work after dark. The best option is a 60-watt light bulb, which is covered with a matt lampshade, and placed accordingly on the left side. And it is important that the rest of the room is also lit, remember the contrast of light. In this case, it is recommended to use a sconce instead of a bright top light, so that the light is diffused.

Working space

First of all, pay attention to the surface of the table. First of all, take care of the stand for textbooks, the angle of inclination of which should be 30-40 degrees relative to the countertop. Do not forget about the stand for pens, markers and pencils. Near the table on the wall, it makes sense to hang some visual aids, calendars, or a poster with a schedule of lessons. Psychologists also recommend placing a clock near the table, so that the student can do a 10-minute break every hour. Remember that the success of a child in school largely depends on the comfort of the desktop.

The next step will be to think about a place where the child will be able to dispose of his necessary school supplies. Observe the rule that the surface of the table should be clean and nothing should be placed on it. Any object should have its place, based on how often the child uses the item. You should buy a cabinet with drawers and put notebooks and textbooks there, it should be placed near the table. In this case, the student will have everything at hand during the assignment. As an option of facilitating the search for the required notebook, you can fix on each drawer a tablet with the name of the textbooks and notebooks that are stored in it. And for auxiliary literature - directories, dictionaries and other books - you can hang a shelf above the table, only so that the student gets to it. With this arrangement, nothing prevents and every desired object at hand. Do not expect that at a certain place for the school there will be only the proper things! Your baby will necessarily bring there favorite trifles. On this, immediately think of this option and take a place for this. Just make sure that this place is away from the desktop, because there may be temptations.

A little psychology

If your child has a room, does it make sense to fence the workplace away from the rest of the room? Build walls and barricades is not necessary, because it can overwhelmingly affect the student. But also to have a training zone with a game zone is also not recommended, because the student will be tempted to give up lessons and play with your favorite cars and dolls. The solution of the problem in this situation can be a semi-transparent light screen that will not burden the child and at the same time will not distract from the successful completion of the homework. And one more recommendation - the working area for the schoolboy can be done in calmer pastel tones. For example, light shades of brown or yellow are good, they contribute to the child's mental activity and concentration.

Also one of the recommendations says that to take into account not only the age, but also the sex of the schoolboy. For example, psychologists believe that boys need bright lighting, because otherwise they can quickly lose interest in learning. And for a really comfortable work they need more space than girls, this factor can also be taken into account when choosing a table. And for girls, tactile sensations are more important. One of the criteria for choosing in this case: the chair and the table should be pleasant to the touch.

The task of organizing the first workplace for your student is not an easy one. Remember that the comfort of the workplace contributes to the success of your child in school. In life the same way!
