How to properly lay a one-year-old child to sleep?

Most parents of newborns believe that the kid himself knows what and when he needs it. To a certain extent, this is indeed so. For example, a newly born child knows exactly when he is hungry. And in this case, parents can completely trust their child and feed him on demand. However, with sleep everything is somewhat more complicated. How to properly lay a one-year-old child to sleep? Read about this in our today's article.

The pace of life of a modern urban person, directly a family with a child, greatly affects the harmony of sleep. And it's not just that the kid is disturbed by extraneous sounds (television, computers, washing machines). One of the most important causes of sleep disturbance is the regime of an adult person, far from the natural. We like to stay up late and get up late (especially when there is such a possibility).

From a medical point of view, sleep should create certain conditions for the state of wakefulness. In other words, a person should sleep not because he needs to, but because he wants to, and wake up because he slept, but not because it's time to work or study. But, alas, this is all in an ideal, in fact, everything is not so, and human society does not want to take into account all these biological features.

Kids, on the contrary, prefer to go to bed and get up early. The fact is that the organism of the child, as well as any other organism, lives by special rhythms that determine its need for sleep, as well as the ratio of the periods of wakefulness and sleep. The desire to sleep a certain amount of time causes not only biorhythms, but also weather conditions, lifestyle and health. A small child is no exception.

In the first 10 months, the baby's dream is not permanent. It can last only 20-40 minutes. This is not the norm, but provided that night sleep is relatively continuous, it is not considered a disease. Often such a short time of sleep is due to the fact that the child is overexcited during the game or the mother did not notice the moment when the baby wanted to sleep. After all, it is not at all necessary that the child will be able to "show" his fatigue, especially in the process of an interesting game. But it is necessary to learn how to notice changes in the behavior of the baby, talking about his fatigue. A child who is not laid to sleep, when he is already tired enough, an overexcited state can become familiar. This in adulthood can lead to insomnia. Young children really like it when they observe a certain order. It is vitally important for them. Therefore, this feature of development can be used to calm the overexcited baby. How can a child be put to bed, especially if he is already overexcited? The most important thing here is not to cause the child (and the adult) to have stress. After all, at the time when you put the child to sleep, it is an excellent opportunity to establish close spiritual contact between the parents and the child himself. Set a specific course of action that you will perform with the child before bed. For example: collect toys in the nursery and wish the kid "good night"; take a warm bath; Sing a lullaby and shake the baby a little; say goodbye to some toy (preferably with the most beloved, lay it with the baby). Children are very fond of the execution of a certain order of actions, the so-called "rituals". It's the rituals that help them feel comfort and stability. And it does not matter how many a child is years or months old, even a month old child will know and fall asleep faster if he goes to bedtime every day listening to a fairy tale or a lullaby.

Here it is also necessary to say about the enormous influence of the lullaby on the life of the child. Specialists say that children who are not sung by lullabies are less successful in life and more likely to suffer from mental disorders. The main reason for this is the deprivation of the child of the special emotional relations that develop during the singing between the child and the mother. Mother, lulling the baby, caressing him, gives him his warmth and tenderness. This is very important for a quiet transition to sleep. It is not surprising that children who have grown up in boarding schools, deprived of warmth, feel insecure all their life.

At the earliest age the baby does not understand the meaning, and the main thing is the rhythmic accompaniment. In addition, there are a lot of whistling and hissing sounds in the text of the lullaby, helping to lull the crumbs:

Hush, chickens, do not make a noise,

Do not wake up my Shura.

The time comes, boys and girls grow out of lullabies, but the warmth and participation of the mother's love that the child received in infancy remains. And can anything be stronger than maternal love? Sing your children lullabies!
