Indoor plants in the interior of the apartment

Agree, one large and beautiful plant standing on the floor, sometimes decorates the room better than the window sill, filled with flower "trifles". But for some reason, few use this design element. Large indoor plants in the interior of the apartment for some reason are considered problematic in content. Is it so? We'll figure it out together.

Quiet breath monsters

Large plants have one big advantage: their leaves "breathe" much more actively than leaves of small plants. One monster, for example, releases oxygen 5-10 times more than 20 fashionable Uzumbara violets. At one time, scientists at the University of Cologne conducted research on the effect of plants on indoor air. Their conclusion was unequivocal: "Plants - the only absolutely harmless way to clean the air of bad impurities." The most common indoor plants were tested in the laboratories of the University. It turned out that one 1.5-meter high sheffler is capable of absorbing 10 liters of gas per day, and oxygen will give 2-3 times more. In addition, it easily neutralizes 60% of formaldehyde, which is harmful to human health. It is proved that large-sized plants can easily cope with both nitrogen oxides and heavy metals. Scientists say that 4-5 old-fashioned "grandmother" aloes of half a meter height are enough to clean the air of a small room within a day. Plants on the windowsill, of course, also clean the air, but they do it much more slowly.

Whom to choose?

And yet, we choose large plants not for pragmatic reasons. They create in the interior of the apartment the coziness of the winter garden, attract attention, facilitate the space. Of course, they need a place. But if you want, even in a 15-meter room you can find it. The question is, which of the major plants to choose? For this purpose, as a rule, either woody plants or lianas are chosen. If there is no possibility to put plants on the floor (little space, interfere with the game of children, attract cats and dogs), choose the ampels (hanging down) and hang them on the wall. Woody plants (palm trees, ficus, citrus, oleander, Chinese rose, abutilon, aucuba) are good because many of them bloom. But taming them is more difficult than creepers. Palms, for example, have a wide crown. And many dracenes grow rapidly and after 5-6 years they rest on the ceiling. But they do not always need support and have a good decorative look.

Lianas necessarily require support. To do this, use bamboo arcs, grates, sticks, wrapped in coconut fiber or dry moss. Some of them wind along the lattice themselves (passionflower, ivy, tetrustigma), others require garters (all vines with aerial roots, including monsters). Some give libans the will and let them out of the pot on the walls. Unfortunately, to moisturize and wash such a plant is problematic. It should be remembered that the "breathing" of indoor plants in the interior of the apartment makes air dryness very difficult. In such a room plants "breathe" very badly. Saving themselves from dehydration, they simply close the mouth and therefore start to wither.

Ampelnye plants (hanging down), too, can be large and beautiful. They need a good fastening and a pallet that will not allow moisture to drain onto the walls and floor.

Is it warm to you? Is it light to you?

We put plants on the windowsill because there is more light. After all, even clean glasses reflect and absorb too much sunlight. Measurements showed: if the intensity of light in front of the window is measured 100%, then behind the glass it is equal to 50%. If the plant is removed from the window by only 2 meters, then the sunlight remains only 7-8%. On the north side, these indications are even smaller. And with this you need to reckon. If in the part of the room where you plan to put the plant, in the afternoon you can read the magazine without additional lighting, so you can put a plant there.

Some common indoor plants, for example ferns, also tolerate light shading. Fern - the first applicant for a place in the bathroom (provided that there is at least a small window). Clivia, aralia, ivy and even some dracenes can grow in a light shade. Young plants require more light and water. To plants (palm trees, dracenes, monsters, ferns, ficuses) evenly expanded in all directions, the pot should be gradually turned. But do not do it too harshly! The leaves on the shady side are not ready to change the light regime so quickly. And vice versa. In addition, there are plants that categorically protest against any sharp "twists of fate". These include the Chinese rose (hibiscus) and all tropical cacti.

Large plants should often be sprayed or wiped with a wet wipe. They love water procedures. If your plant is near the battery, then in winter, protect it from excessively dry air. To do this, the battery can hang special vat-moisturizers with water or put a pot on a pallet with expanded clay, which is constantly kept moist.

If the conditions for plants are good, they are warm and humid, then if desired, in a spacious room you can create a tropical paradise. By the way, plants in the group feel much more comfortable than singly. So it is easier for them to moisturize each other, to heal "sick", giving a portion of oxygen and phytoncids.

Good sitting!

A pot is an important element in the life of not only plants, but also in the interior of the apartment. A beautiful pot can be a room decoration. The most elegant are the terracotta tanks. But a specific interior requires a specific approach. Pots can be under the steel, bronze, wood and frank plastic.

A large plant-tapeworm looks great against the background of light walls. Against the background of wallpaper with a large pattern or in a small, crowded room, a small room is lost. Variegated plants (Benjamin ficus, philodendron) win against the background of dark walls.

If you want to "lift" the ceiling and use a wallpaper with vertical stripes for this, then a slender plant will further emphasize this effect. A spreading plant ceiling visually reduce.
