Methods for determining the acidity of the stomach

One of the most important functions of the body is the metabolism. The main indicator of metabolic processes is acid-base balance (KChR). Methods for determining the acidity of the stomach - the topic of the article.

It is important to understand that often in different organs acidity can vary significantly. Not all of them are equally pH balanced: the stomach and digestive juices produced by it are more acidic than the brain or blood, which, in turn, are more alkaline (pH about 7.1 and 7.4, respectively). The pH balance is established through various proteins (proteins), minerals and through the functioning of organs such as the kidneys and lungs. All that we eat or drink, and what we breathe, affects the pH balance (we breathe in alkaline oxygen, and breathe out acidic carbon dioxide).

1) Esophagus - normal acidity in the esophagus 6,0-7,0 pH.

2) Stomach - the highest possible (theoretically) acidity in the stomach - 8.6 pH. The minimum is 8.3 pH.

3) Intestine - everything is not so simple here, because the intestine structure is also difficult. Acidity in the intestinal organs is from 5.6 pH (in the bulb of the duodenum) to 9.0 pH (acidity of the juice of the colon).

How to verify it

The simplest and most reliable way to check what predominates in your body: alkali or acid, requires the use of pH-litmus paper that changes color when it comes in contact with saliva. The test is conducted 2 hours before or 2 hours after a meal. For best accuracy, it is best to conduct it immediately after awakening. A slice of litmus paper is put on the tongue for 10 seconds. The results can be affected by stress, any food and drinks that you eat. To get more accurate answers, test several times within a week. The result of 6.6-7.0 means normal pH balance, below 6.6 - increased acidity and, consequently, the need to consume more alkaline foods.

What gets him down

Having understood, thus, that the pH indices in human organs differ quite strongly, it is easy to conclude that maintaining it in a stable state is a serious factor in the state of health. Age is also a very significant factor for the acid-base balance. Normal indicators are relatively easy to maintain in youth, when all the regulatory mechanisms work properly, but with each new ten, starting at age 40, the efficiency of the body systems is significantly reduced. Only 6-8% of the population at the older age develop enough alkali.

How to help him

1) Violation of the acid-base balance in the body can be corrected, observing the correct diet.

2) Sour products: meat, wheat, rye, barley, buckwheat, corn, cheeses, milk, yogurt, yogurt, eggs, wine, tomato, apple, citrus juices.

3) Alkaline: tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, melons, greens, turnips, radishes, rutabaga, beets, carrots, cabbage, kohlrabi, broccoli, onions, garlic, potatoes, yams, Jerusalem artichoke, fruit, tea, mineral water.

Neutrals: beans, peas, beans, soy, nuts.
