Miniature Dachshund Dachshund

Dogs of a breed of coarse dwarf dachshund were bred in the late 1890s. It is believed that blood of such breeds as schnauzer, short-haired dachshund, dwarf pinscher, dandy-dinmont-terrier and Scotch-terrier flow in the veins of these rates.

For the first time information about the breeding of the breed of wire-haired dachshunds is mentioned in 1811 by the writer Dzierer Haring. He described the wire-haired dachshund as less legged and short-legged than the smooth-haired species.

In the middle of the XIX century, taxes were very popular and were bred without taking into account varieties of the type of wool cover. The coarse dachshunds appeared as a result of crossing dachshunds with short wool with dogs having a hard woolen cover.

Most of the breeds, crossed with a dachshund when introducing a coarse-wooled dachshund, had a decorative purpose. Dachshunds received by crossing, lost sharp flair and ability to cast a voice while pursuing prey. Until now, in the breed of dwarf-haired dachshunds there are silent dogs with a faint flair.

Type of dwarf coarse dachshund

The coarse dachshund is an elongated, squat, but compact, short-legged dog with a very pronounced musculature, a beautiful head and smart eyes. It is very plastic and mobile, regardless of the presence of short legs.

The circumference of the breast of a dwarf dachshund at the age of adulthood should be from 30 to 35 centimeters, the weight should not exceed 9 kilograms.

The dogs of this breed have an elongated head, when viewed from the profile and from above, without a pointed head, gradually tapering towards the nose. Superciliary arches should be clearly pronounced. The cartilage and the back of the nose are narrow and long. The skull is relatively flat, evenly turning into a slightly convex back of the nose. The transition from the forehead to the muzzle is not completely expressed, only slightly marked. Nose large, well developed. Muzzle - massive, long, very wide opening.

Lips - tightly fitting and well covering the lower jaw. Jaws strong, well developed. Eyes oval, shiny, medium in size, widely planted. They do not have a piercing but friendly and energetic look. The color of the eyes can be as dark-brown and blackish-brown, and dark-brown (regardless of the coat color). There are dachshunds with bluish or whitish (so-called pearl or fish) eyes. This is not desirable, but the defect is not considered. Ears are long, not folded, high set, not protruding forward. The shape is round, not narrow and not pointed. Sufficiently mobile, the front edges tightly adjacent to the cheekbones. The neck should be muscular and long, keep high and loose.

The extremities of the dachshund are very strong, muscular, with pronounced angles of articulation. Fore and hind legs should move parallel to each other.

The tail should keep slightly lowered, harmoniously continuing the line of the back.

Particular attention in assessing dogs is given to the presence of a proper bite and stiffness of the wool.

Movement taxes are defined as smooth, spacious and energetic, with a sweeping pitch of slightly rising up front paws and a strong push of the rear. Gait should give the impression of lightness and elasticity.

In the varieties of dogs, the color of the wild boar (murugia or wolf), ranging from light to dark, predominates. Also, the dwarf haired dachshund is of a monotonous color - reddish-yellow, red, pale yellow. There are admixtures of black hair. Most preferably pure color, and red is considered the most valuable. Dogs that have a significant or small admixture of black hair are considered single-colored. White color is considered undesirable, but small single white markings to the dog are not disqualified. The color of the nose and claws should be black. Allowed, but not desirable, is a tawny color.

Two-color dachshunds are often enough: the main color is black, dark or brown, above the eyes, on the lower lips and sides of the muzzle, on the front of the chest, on the inner and back sides of the legs, on the paws and the lower part of the tail, on the inner side of the ears - reddish-brown or fawn tan. In the two-tone color of the nose and claws, black dogs should be black in color, brown in brown. White is the same color as a monochrome color is not desirable, although small white marks do not disqualify the dog.

There are dachshunds with marble or tiger color. In marble dachshunds, the main color should always be dark (red, gray or black). Beige or gray random spots of small size are desirable (large spots are not welcome). Colors should be uniform, without any predominance. The color of the tiger dachshund can be fawn or red with dark tigroviny. The color of claws and nose lobes are the same as in monochrome and two-colored animals, but the color of dry leaves is also possible.

The character of the dwarf coarse dachshund

Dogs of this breed are distinguished by friendliness and balanced temperament. Nervous and aggressive dachshunds are a rarity.

Dwarf hairy dachshunds, according to experts, are devoid of many shortcomings present in their short-haired relatives. They are not rancorous, not raspy, not resentful.

This is the perfect dog for a lonely person or for a family with young children. It is very easy to get attached to the owners and tolerates the "pestering" of young children. By nature, this dwarf dog is more like a terrier than a dachshund.

Dogs-dachshunds are very fond of funny games and fuss, but you need to carefully monitor that they do not fall from a height, as the spine of the dachshund is very prone to trauma.

During moulting, it is desirable to cut off wool from wire-haired dachshunds, which provides almost complete absence of hair on the furniture and on the floor in the apartment.
