Acquaintance of children with wild and domestic animals

With the advent of children, many young parents begin to wonder where to put their pets. Careful moms and dads think that animals can harm a baby. And they float their former favorites to their grandparents. Maybe it's better to introduce children to wild and domestic animals than to get rid of a faithful four-legged friend?

Get rid of animals, this is not humane in relation to the pets themselves. It is worth thinking about whether it is so bad when a child grows up surrounded by domestic animals. Most often, animals feel that before him is a "human cub" and treat it with condescension. But if your cat or dog is particularly jealous, then you can conduct a number of preventive procedures.

Preparing for a new family member

  1. Having prepared a place for the baby, explain to the pet that it is impossible to go there. If this is a separate room, then the entrance to it for a dog or cat should be prohibited.
  2. While still in the hospital, give the relatives a diaper on which the baby was sleeping. Let them bring her home, and the animal already beforehand will begin to get acquainted and get used to the new smell.
  3. When feeding a child, do not forget to talk with your pet, speak sweet words, so that he does not feel abandoned.
  4. If the dog or cat has slept with you before, disaccustom them from this habit. Also, do not allow animals to take a cot for sleep. They must have their own place.
  5. If the animals do not show aggression towards the child, do not once again drive them away from the baby, let them get acquainted. The animal can sniff the crumb, but do not let it lick the child.

Most often cats treat babies as kittens, and stoically withstand childish pranks, such as jerking at the tail or ears. Dogs in their majority are also indulgent towards kids. But do not forget about the precautionary measures. If the dog bared his teeth, and the cat pressed his ears and hisses - this is a warning. Without sudden movements, take the child away from the animal. Do not allow a child to climb into a bowl with animal feed - this is the main reason for biting. Not only animals should know the rules of behavior with the child, but the baby must understand that before him is not a soft toy. As soon as the crumb begins to crawl, begin to explain to him that the dog or cat is hurt when pulled by the coat, that they too feel and may be upset. Encourage the child to love animals, let it help you take care of them.

An important part of educating the feelings and horizons of the child is the acquaintance of children with wild animals. Of course, to search for wild animals through the forest is not necessary. When the child grows up, it is enough to reduce it to the zoo. This fascinating journey will be especially useful for children who grew up in big cities.

Pros of raising a child next to animals:

  1. Scientists have proved that animals help children develop faster, it is easier to adapt in a new collective. In addition, this is a great topic for starting a conversation with new comrades.
  2. Psychologically, the child himself feels much calmer with the animals. He is not afraid to tell them about what disturbs him, because an animal can never reproach or offend. It is useful for children to be in the company of an animal when they read aloud. On the one hand they have an attentive listener. On the other hand, no one will laugh at them in case of stumbling or slow reading, as peers often do, and sometimes adults.
  3. A child from childhood learns to reckon with the desires of others and take care of others. Now he becomes not the youngest in the family and understands that his life depends on his care. This is very good for the sense of responsibility of the baby.
  4. Pets contribute to the physical development of children. They always encourage active games. Playing ball or running for distillation - all this is not only fun and entertaining, but also useful. No wonder there is a program for treating children with cerebral palsy with the help of horses and dogs.
  5. The animal in the house makes the family full. None of the curtains and carpets will make the house more comfortable than it will make a small wad of wool, which will please you with its antics. Children feel the mood of the house and, of course, will grow more balanced and harmonious if the aura of the house is protected by their pets.

Which animal is best for your family?

Often domestic, and sometimes wild exotic animals are given for various holidays: New Year, Birthday, birthday, and so on. However, do not blindly give in to a spiritual impulse. Choose an animal for the family should be consciously. What kind? It all depends on the pace of your life, your favorite pastime. If your family is very active, likes outdoor walks, trips to the forest, then the dog is a great option. You should also think about the breed. Before you start a dog, you should read a lot of literature, because each breed has its own characteristics. Much depends on education, but it is better to choose the breed that loves children, such as Labrador, Golden Retriever, Elder Terrier.

If your family likes a quiet relaxing holiday at home, then it is better to have a cat. Cats are famous for their medicinal properties. They feel a person's sore spot, lie down next to them, embarking on their inconspicuous but very effective therapy. And also soothingly act on the emotional background of your home. If you have little time or place in the apartment, then a good way out will be a hamster or a rabbit, with these animals the child will also be happy to do. Watching them, children draw their first knowledge of nature studies and learn to take care of nature. And the aquarium at home is not only an excellent air humidifier, but also an excellent replacement for a TV set. Fall asleep, watching the calm swimming of fish, your baby will be both easier and more pleasant.

Diseases

But, unfortunately, animals are not only a source of joy and love, but also a well-known spreader of diseases. The most common problem with animals is an allergy. And the allergy is not to wool, as is commonly believed, but to a specific protein, not only contained in the wool, but also in the saliva and particles of the epidermis of animals. There is such an allergy most often the appearance of a cold, sneezing and itching in the nose. However, there are breeds of dogs that are less likely to cause allergies. These are coarse breeds (schnauzers, terriers) and those that do not shed and do not have a specific odor (Yorkshire terrier, poodle), the structure of their hair is very close to the human.

With cats - more difficult. To foresee whether an allergy will be on them or not is impossible. Even bald breeds of cats (sphinxes) can cause allergies. Now they have already started breeding cats, which are not allergens at all, but so far, unfortunately, they are very expensive.

And yet in the joint living of animals and children there is a very significant plus. There is an opinion that children, who from early childhood grow near animals, suffer less from both allergies and asthma. Scientists from the National Center for Environmental Hygiene in Munich conducted a study. For 6 years, they have watched three thousand children since their birth and managed to prove that children who grew up in a house with dogs suffered from allergies fifty percent less frequently than their peers. This effect on the human immune system of four-legged pets scientists explain from a scientific point of view. It turned out that a child in contact with an animal trains its immunity. Activates the protective potential of the body, begins to resist a variety of allergens, which on their wool bring pets.

But allergy is not the only threat that animals carry in themselves. On our favorite animals very often there are various parasites that can cause many inconveniences not only as a pet, but also for you and your child. Therefore, do not forget to inspect your animals for fleas and once a year to carry out preventive procedures for the removal of worms. To do this, you need to give your pet just one special pill. Children also will not be prevented by a prophylactic tablet from worms. Which one? The pediatrician will tell. To drive an animal to a veterinarian for inspection is also necessary at least once a year, if there are no visible reasons for more frequent visits. And believe me, the animal in the house will not become a threat to health, but a huge happiness and best friend to your baby.
