I am the youngest of three sons - a kind of Ivan the fool, who, according to the fairy-tale canon, should be very successful and happy, "Ivan says with a grin. His story is a direct confirmation of this. In the fate of the young musician, there were many sharp turns: after leaving the first year of training at the Kharkov Conservatory, the hero of our interview goes to the theater institute, then plays for a long time in various theaters, is removed in the series ... But in the end he returns to what accompanied him from childhood - to music.
Creative way
Popular vocalist Ivan Rozin, admit, did you choose to start playing music yourself?
As long as I can remember, I sang all the time. From the very childhood, every now and then something was humming to himself. Later, when he began to distinguish between musical directions, he listened to the records and copied the performers. Even in the junior classes he memorized almost the entire repertoire of the Italian singer Robertino Loretti. My parents encouraged my hobby and, in spite of my modest earnings for teachers (my mother was a teacher of Italian and French, my father was a teacher of scenic plastics and fencing at the Kharkov University of Arts - author's note), provided me with everything that was necessary for further development. I studied at a specialized music school for piano. In ten years I was given the first synthesizer Yamaha. Then came the time of Viktor Tsoi, and the popular vocalist Ivan Rosin literally fell ill with a guitar. Went to the teacher and for 7-8 hours stubbornly learned the house notes, refusing to hang out with peers.
While I was at school, I performed at many academic and school parties, but I especially remember the day when my classmates and I performed the Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the Kharkov State Opera and Ballet Theater. I sang the part of Freddie Mercury.
It is known that you entered the Conservatoire, but a year later they left. For what reason?
Since I was very attracted to playing the guitar and I gave her a lot of time and energy, it was a shame not to find use of these skills. My father advised me to enter the conservatory at the jazz department, where there was a powerful classical school. But I was interested in the alternative: playing the electric guitar. Alas, in my specialty there were no teachers, so I had to learn a lot myself.
Disappointed in my studies, I was transferred to the Kharkov Institute of Arts the following year.
So I became an actor . How did you manage to realize your acting ambitions? The first place of work was the Donetsk Music and Drama Theater, in which I received a tremendous experience of singing live for an orchestra without a microphone. Just imagine: you stand in the front of the stage, and opposite the pit with the orchestra, which you need to sing. Moreover, you still play something and dance in parallel. Popular vocalist Ivan Rozin played many good roles, the directors and management believed in me.
But I clearly understood that I did not want to stay in Donetsk, so two years later I returned to Kharkov. Unfortunately, in the theater "Berezil", where I wanted to go, there were no vacancies. Then I took my suitcase and went to Kiev. At that time I had already met my future wife Anya, but she could not influence my decision. After all, every creative person has a fair share of selfishness, which forces him to defend his inner genius, that which comes from above.
In the capital, I settled in the Theater of Drama and Comedy on the Left Bank, then moved to the Russian Drama Theater. L. Ukrainka. Seeing the background of the acting life, undercover intrigues, I was terribly disappointed in the theater as such. But I could not go to "nowhere." At that time Anya, whom I had brought to Kiev, was pregnant. Realizing that there are big expenses, I did not quit the theater, I started looking for a new job.
And how soon was it found?
The case did not take long to wait. Somehow I starred in advertising crackers, they paid me, and I already forgot about it. And then the popular singer Ivan Rosin is called by the customer, who claims that he must come to the studio to voice this video. Ivan carefully read the contract and recorded that it did not have such an item, so politely declined. As it was a day off, my guests sat in my house. When the interlocutor offered me a fee for my work, I purposely decided to double it, hoping that at the other end of the line they would refuse and I would not have to go anywhere. To my surprise, the customer agreed. So Ivan got to the recording studio, which became the starting point in the whirlwind of change. The way I sounded the video, I liked it, so soon a lot of orders fell on me. I was the voice of the operator JEANS, TUBORG and other brands, voiced a large number of foreign films and cartoons.
In parallel, I began to be interested in the process of writing music. As soon as I finished my voice acting, I immediately fled to another "musical" room where I watched and studied. And one day I was asked to work in this studio. I was given a trial assignment, which I successfully coped with, and then taken to the state. And I finally "tied up" with the theater.
Popular vocalist Ivan Rosin, you did not regret your decision?
What do you! The arrangement completely captured me, because it's a huge, melting world of possibilities, your own theater, in which you are a warrior alone in the field. That's what I missed. Previously, Ivan often freaked out because of inept partners on the stage, talentless direction, poor-quality or uninteresting material, due to the fact that the roles were often distributed unfairly. Only when I started playing music, did I get a real buzz.
Create a group
When did the idea for organizing a band of a popular vocalist Ivan Rosin originate?
At first I was hatching the idea of creating my own recording studio. As soon as extra money appeared, he acquired something from the equipment. And one fine day it all worked! Now I could work for myself - and quit the studio. But the event that predetermined my musical career occurred a little earlier. Somehow, going for the purchase of the speakers, I grabbed a couple of discs with my demos to check the sound quality. In one of the Kiev music stores they were heard by Dmitry Sehno (later he became a bass player of the group). Dima really liked my songs, and he suggested that they play somehow. Not really hoping that something will come out of this, I left my phone number. After a while, a bell rang. "Dima from the store" said that he found the musicians for the rehearsal. This was the first step towards the creation of the Gouache group.
How popular are the songs of the popular vocalist Ivan Rosin reflecting real events, emotions and impressions?
I used to want to sing only, and now I want to talk - mainly about what I'm experiencing right now. For example, the song S'est La Vie ("Cé la Vie") was born from one tearful and shattering story. I actually wrote it for myself and at first I was not going to do it anywhere. But listeners with an enviable persistence preferred it to her. And then I came to the conclusion that only what is created under the influence of real feelings will be in demand. Such music will remain "alive" for decades.
Now for me special is the new composition "I Found You", which is dedicated to my wife Ana. The song conveys a beautiful state when you are absorbed by someone you love. Everyone dreams of finding their true mate in order to gain integrity - no matter how much he has a span in his forehead. I was lucky: I found it.
Ivan, is it true that your wife writes to the songs of the Gouache group?
Yes, English-speaking: I'm not so strong in this language. And Anya lived a year in America and is endowed with poetic talent. Experienced by her strong emotions resulted in several excellent songs. Ukrainian and Russian texts I write myself. My songs - this is by no means a "music for the feet": I strive to convey to the listeners some message, to touch the strings in their souls. Currently, we are working on our second album. Unlike the first, English-speaking, it will include songs in Russian and Ukrainian. I plan to prepare a whole musical and theatrical performance.
About the present
Ivan, does your little son already show interest in music?
Of course. On New Year's Eve he ordered a drum as a gift. Now all day in my ears is this terrible knock (laughs).
Alyosha loves me very much and is proud that his father is a musician. This is incredibly encouraging. It's no secret that creative people are subject to severe changes in mood. I can have a wonderful mood, when I spark, all around I start, I'm laughing. Quite suddenly, energy can run out and I instantly "get lost" among the crowd. Despite these differences, I try my best to keep positive thinking. In this, my son and wife help me. My family has always been and will always be in the first place. This is my sacred territory, where I like a phoenix bird reborn from the ashes after losses and failures.
Ivan, what other talents do you plan to showcase to the world and your fans? Unquestionably, a talented person is talented in many ways. I took a lot for a lot and I got it right away: for example, I can cook deliciously, sew clothes. But I try not to scatter and give maximum strength and time to the main thing. I realized that I would not escape from music anywhere. If I go somewhere, leaving the guitar at home, in three days I find no place for myself.
So , are you satisfied with yourself and with the way your musical career develops? For a creative person, self-satisfaction is a disaster. As soon as everything starts to suit you, you no longer just stopped in development - you rolled down. Moving forward stimulates the feeling of discontent. I realize that I periodically grow out of old "panties", so that new ones are sewn. And I follow my inner creative egoist: I must encourage and protect it. Otherwise, you can irrevocably lose your individuality in our vain world.
Individualism never goes out of fashion ...
We are stuffed with advertising, it became fashionable to communicate via the Internet - via Skype, ICQ, e-mail. People have split themselves into many parts, as a result - the syndrome of separation. I am an adherent of good old traditions: to call, meet, establish contact with eyes and soul. Therefore, in principle, I do not use social networks.
Popular vocalist Ivan Rosin, you changed a lot in life. Did someone pressure you or did you decide which direction to take? My parents supported me in everything. When there was a need, they gave advice. I managed to achieve in an amazing way all that I wanted. Probably because of my sincere desire and perseverance. I now cultivate the principle of nonviolence in my family. I try to notice, than it would be interesting to the child to be engaged. To do this, my wife and I try to give our son the maximum choice. Noticing how Alyosha's eyes are animated, we immediately encourage him and give him the opportunity to express himself.
