A thing with a story
The term "Vintage" originally originated among French winemakers and denoted it with long-aged wine. Now vintage is the whole style that affirms fashion for things "with history". In this case, those that were sewn in the XX century, but not later than the 80's. An important remark: if you have a grandmother's robe, where she washed floors, or a suit in which she went to potatoes during her student years, know: this is not vintage! A stylish vintage thing should be initially exclusive, rare, expensive and reflective style of the era to which it belongs. For example, it could be an evening dress of the 50's from a famous fashion designer. Or a funny summer dress with polka dots with an unusual collar, which were only in the season of 1965. It can be a cosmetic bag with an unusual inlay. Or well-preserved flared trousers with hippie-embroidery and so on. By the way, vintage is not just clothing. But also accessories, ornaments, handbags, shoes, interior items. Moreover, even in cosmetology there is a whole direction - a "vintage makeup": black "arrows" in the style of the 70's, pale lipstick a la 60's, hair laid "wave", as it was fashionable in the 40-50's, x.
Fashion for vintage, as usual, brought the "stars". At first it was Barbara Streisand, crazy about dresses and suits of the 50's. Then came the omnipresent Kate Moss, who sported incredible shoes from Vivienne Westwood from the 1970s. Sara Jessica Parker, and Nicole Kidman, and even Madonna, immediately put their hand on it. After that, vintage in two accounts "spread out" in the wardrobes of women of fashion all over the world - and voila! - this is the most "squeak" of modern fashion.
True vintage - these are the things that really produced many years ago. They are well preserved, someone looked after them. And then they got to the person who managed to use them, somehow adjust them in their wardrobe or house. Such things, unless they are from your relatives, are very expensive.
Things "for vintage" - these are things made in our time, but with a design under the old days. Simply put, these are things in retro style. They are much cheaper than true vintage, and therefore more accessible to mere mortals. In addition, they are better suited to our realities. Also things "under vintage" often artificially grow old. Especially it concerns ornaments and details of an interior which cover a patina, kakeljurnymi varnishes, creating effect of the cracked surface and so on.
Why do people cling to old things
The fascination with vintage things so captured the world that psychologists seriously thought about why, in fact, people "cling" to all this old stuff? And this is with a modern abundance of clothes and furniture! There is an opinion that this happens because the current pace of life is too fast for the human psyche. Therefore, a person feels lost, in a suspended state due to constant changes, all new "gadgets" and inventions. Striving for stability and communication with his family, he turns to the past. A person gently keeps old photos, does not want to throw out his vinyl records collection, scratches a brand new laminate with a peeling grandfather chair and wears dresses that are fifty years old. Neither the clever computer, nor the closet-compartment, nor the mobile phone, nor the serial jeans with tops will not give you a sense of exclusivity - that's the whole secret of the vintage style in modern fashion.
