When autumn came, Zhenya continued his studies at the Aviation Technical School. There he constantly participated in amateur performances, than pleased himself and the audience. In the end, when Eugene was in his third year, he was able to enter the drama department of the Moscow Theater Studio. This studio was led by the most famous person, the ballet master of the Bolshoi Theater - Zakharov.
At admission, Eugene seemed to the commission rather gray and uncouth. He did not have enough culture, he came in his brother's jacket. After graduation, Leonov went to work at the Moscow Dzerzhinsky Theater. He managed to play one major role, but then the theater was disbanded and turned into a theater named after Stanislavsky. But two years later, Eugene was able to try himself in another field - in the cinema. At first he played several episodic roles, and in the mid-fifties, Leonova already could be seen in serious roles. His work was interesting and diverse. His roles in "The Rumyantsev Case" and "Road" became the key to the heart of the viewer. The people recognized and fell in love with the young actor. Leonov always remembered with gratitude the staff with whom he worked on the set of "Roads". The actor said that these people were like a family, who helped, supported and taught him.
