The effect of smoking on the human body

Smoking is the practice of burning dried tobacco leaves and inhaling the smoke. According to the World Health Organization, about one third of the entire male population of the planet is smoking people. In addition to this, all non-smokers are exposed to secondhand smoke from smoke exhaled by another person. But most people use tobacco in the form of cigarettes.

Many harm this for a variety of reasons: some are for fun, while others think it looks cool. As a rule, a person starts smoking during adolescence because of the influence of other persons (family members or friends). However, over time, a favorite hobby becomes a habit. Consciously or unconsciously, people get used to smoking.

Harmful effects of cigarettes

Tobacco contains chemicals such as nicotine and cyanide, which in large doses are fatal. Nicotine is an alkaloid that is used in some medicines. Although everyone knows that smoking can cause serious health problems, people can not give up the "harmful business" that is due to addiction, which is like heroin and other narcotic drugs. The researchers found that nicotine exerts a powerful influence on the activity of the human brain. The body and mind get used to it.

Due to the inevitability of harmful consequences, governments of many countries have long begun educational programs to ban smoking in public places. Despite this, it must be remembered that "tobacco snake" brings different negative effects on the human body.

Heart Disease and Stroke: Every time a person smokes, his / her heart temporarily increases due to smoke, which contains a mixture of carbon monoxide and nicotine. This leads to stress of the blood vessels and raises blood pressure. Smoking also causes the deposition of fat in the vessels and narrows them, causing a heart attack and stroke. There are also cases of paralysis of the hands and feet due to a decrease in blood supply and a lack of oxygen in some parts of the body. About 30% of deaths from heart disease are caused by smoking.

Emphysema: Smoking is one of the main causes of emphysema. In other words, it is a chronic disease that is caused by damage and destruction of the walls of the alveoli (tiny air sacs) in the lungs. Cigarette smoke increases the production of substances that reduce the elasticity of the lungs, which leads to a general decrease in the ability to inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Approximately 80-90% of cases of pulmonary emphysema are caused by smoking. Patients with emphysema suffer from shortness of breath.

Cancer: Smoking can cause various types of cancer, including lungs, throat, stomach and bladder cancer. In general, 87% of cases of this disease occurs because of the resin (thick sticky substance) in tobacco smoke. At the same time, American scientists found that smoking men are 10 times more likely to get lung cancer than the entire non-smoking male generation.

Heartburn and peptic ulcer. In this case, smoking affects the entire digestive system of the body and leads to heartburn. It also weakens the lower esophageal sphincter (NPS), and allows the introduction of acidic gastric juices into the esophagus, which, in turn, causes heartburn. Smoking also increases the likelihood of infection of the gastric mucosa and leads to excessive secretion of gastric acid. Therefore, cases of peptic ulcer, as a rule, are observed among smokers.

Second hand smoke. According to world studies, women who are exposed to passive smoking in childhood or adolescence have a high risk of suffering from infertility. Many experts suggest that they are more likely to miscarry than other mothers who are not exposed to tobacco.

In summary, it should be noted that smoking mainly affects all human organs and suppresses the body's immune system. The addiction also leads to aging of the skin (due to lack of oxygen), the creation of bad breath and yellowing of the teeth. People who smoke are more prone to bronchitis, pneumonia and other respiratory diseases. Men, like women, face fertility problems due to smoking, which can lead to disruption of the growth of the baby in the womb. However, let's take some measures to seem from a bad habit and start a healthy lifestyle.
