The real name of the American boxer is Cassius Marcellus Clay. He took the name Mohammed Ali in February 1964, when, shortly after the championship battle with Sonny Liston, the athlete entered the Negro religious organization "Nation of Islam".

In 1960, the athlete became the champion of the XVII Olympics, then - twice the absolute world champion (1964-1966 and 1974-1978), five times Ali was recognized as the "Boxer of the Year", and in 1970 - "Boxer of the Decade".

For his sporting career, Mohammed Ali conducted 61 fights, becoming the winner in 56 fights. Of these victories - 37 won by knockout.
