The poisonous snake's bite in a child

Summer, outdoor recreation, numerous trips outside the city - we all look forward to it all during the cold and boring winter. Especially the summer is loved by our little children, because for them this season is a small, nothing like a fairy tale, a happy story of three months. However, sometimes this tale can be overshadowed by unpleasant situations. One of the most dangerous is the bite of a poisonous snake in a child. The snake's bite, first of all, is dangerous because you do not know for sure - was it a bite of a poisonous snake, or is the reptile harmless enough and it's not worth worrying? Proceeding from this, we give you the most sensible and the only correct advice: if after contact with the snake you notice a bite in the child is an occasion for instantaneous treatment in a medical institution.

When you bite a poisonous snake, the child should act urgently - emergency care should be carried out as soon as possible so that the poison does not spread through the child's body.

To start, the bitten baby should be placed on the ground (or litter, but it is better not to dense grass, where the brothers of a snake attacking a child may hide). It should not move, because the slightest movement and, consequently, the contraction of muscles, leads to the fact that the poison is only absorbed into the baby's body more quickly. If the snake's bite was made through the trouser leg, or any other clothing - it must be removed immediately, because there might be drops of poison on the tissue that are no less dangerous than those that hit the wound. Carefully inspect and, just in case, thoroughly wipe the place around the wound - because there could be poison left (you can use the removed clothes for this).

The next stage is probably the most important one in cases when there was a dangerous contact with a poisonous snake (or rather, with its poisonous teeth). We're talking about sucking poison out of the wound on the skin. This process should be done very carefully and for a long time - at least twenty minutes, otherwise you can not suck all the poison - and there will be no meaning in the first aid. Now pharmacies sell specially designed devices that serve to safely suction poison, injected into the wound with poisonous reptiles or insects. If you have the opportunity - buy yourself such an apparatus and always take it with you on hikes - it can come in handy! However, if there is no such device at hand (and it usually happens, because we do not always make a list of all possible dangerous moments before we go on vacation and take with us something that will help prevent them), then suck the poison out of the wound with your mouth. It used to be said that this can not be done when you have a wound in your mouth. However, in this case it is not necessary to argue - an adult strong organism will cope with this insignificant dose, especially upon the arrival of physicians you can ask for an antidote for you. Moreover, you will not swallow the sucked poison - in fact in the process you need to constantly spit the saliva with poison and periodically rinse the mouth with clean water.

After you suck off all the poison of the poisonous snake from the wound on your child's body, you need to wash the bitten place with water and soap.

Snake's bite in the child's limb

If the bite of a poisonous snake was made into a limb, then the tactics of emergency aid in this situation has its differences.

So, to begin with, you should immobilize the affected limb. What is it and how to do it? Let's stop at this place in more detail.

Immobilization is the deprivation of the limb of the ability to move, it is needed not only with snake bites, but also in a number of other cases. For example, in case of fractures or injuries to the extremities (in these cases, immobilization is performed immediately after the blood ceases to flow from the wound, but this is hardly the case for our situation - a large bleeding does not occur when the venomous snake bites).

An important point in carrying out immobilization is the observance of the property of the limb. To fix the damaged limb is as tight as possible so that the child can not make even the slightest movement by it.

If the hand is hurt - take a scarf or scarf and bandage the limb closer to the trunk, hooking the kerchief by the neck. If the leg has been damaged - it can be wound with a bandage to the unharmed leg.

The tire should be fixed no less than 2 joints, one of which lies above, and the other - below the bite. It is imposed not on the naked body, but on clothes (if there is no such possibility - it is simply wrapped with a piece of cloth). It is better to choose something wider for the tire.

After you have immobilized the affected area, you must tightly bandage it. And start above the bitten place (5 cm). However, too tightly to bandage it is not necessary - between the dressing material and the body should pass a finger freely. Observe the bandage if the limb is swollen - the bandage should be weakened. Also, do not forget to make sure that the bitten by a poisonous snake limb in a state of immobility was lower than the level of the heart - this will slow the spread of the poison.

What can not be done with a venomous snake bite? First, you can not try to impose a tourniquet on the affected area. Secondly, do not think of cauterizing it with fire. Third, you can not cut it. Fourth, until help arrives - no food or alcohol for the affected child.

It is best to know how to avoid such a situation. So, what are the preventive measures?

1. The snake can not be disturbed - it just does not attack a person.

2. If you are strolling for any purpose wherever snakes can be played, reproduce as much noise as possible: take a stick and drive it along the grass, rustle with your feet.

3. Shoes must be high, dense.

4. Prohibit children from exploring mink or crevices, climbing cracks, dragging logs or huge stones, under which snakes are found. Do it yourself, if necessary, just do not forget to rustle carefully.

5. Have you seen a snake? Quit and wait for her to crawl away.

6. You can not turn to a reptile back, you can not put your hands in front of you.

7. Does the snake prevent you from passing along the road? Walk around by yourself, do not force her to leave first.

8. You saw a snake - you know: there may be others nearby.

9. Do not go near the "dead" snakes - maybe they just sleep.
