Vanadinite was discovered at the Zimapan deposit, which is located in the Mexican state of Hidalgo.

At Mibladen, a Moroccan deposit (currently developed), this mineral was found in the picturesque druses of nutlike and reddish-brown and red crystals with a significant luster. Sometimes found in spectacular parallel intergrowths, in columnar grayish-yellow crystals up to three centimeters in length.
