The main rule for choosing a varnish for velvet manicure is that its color should match the color of the selected flock or powder. Otherwise, natural micro-gaps between the particles of the coating will be evident, and the manicure will turn out to be sloppy.

A wide brush is used to gently remove excess flock or powder. It should not be too soft, otherwise it will not be possible to sweep away all stuck and unattached particles of flock. The most suitable is the fan brush, but any other one is also suitable.

A flat cuvette is needed in order that the remnants of the material can be collected and used for the next time. If there is nothing similar at hand, you can use any box, a sheet of cardboard, etc.

To protect the respiratory tract from microparticles of flock, we advise not to neglect the protective mask during the creation of the manicure.

Features of velvet manicure on gel-varnish

The application of flock to gel-lacquer has its own characteristics. A similar procedure is usually carried out in manicure rooms or by professional craftsmen, since an ultraviolet lamp is needed for drying.

Note! The master does not regret flock, applying it to the nail in large quantities. Surplus material does not disappear, but poured back into the jar.

How to make a velvet manicure at home

There are several ways how to make a velvet manicure yourself. Of course, the process has some peculiarities.

After the nails are prepared, the base coat is applied.

Next, apply the first layer of colored varnish and let it dry completely . Covering the nail with varnish, do not forget to seal the butt, then the nails will look neat.

On the first layer we put the second (it is possible to replace with a transparent varnish), and while it does not dry, generously sprinkle it with a flock. For convenience of application it is possible to use tweezers. Some masters advise to dip the painted nail into velvet pieces. The flock should be pressed lightly. However, you should be careful not to damage the second layer of varnish.

Surplus is carefully removed by a fan or any other brush.

In the video tutorial, it is shown how the master plentifully sprinkles the nail with a flock, and cleans it with a fan brush.

Velvet manicure: choose the right effect

Depending on which coating and how you decided to apply, the effect depends. As already mentioned above, the size of the flock particles affects the visual perception of the manicure (large particles give an extra volume, small ones emphasize femininity). Depending on your own imagination, you can combine different techniques, creating real works of manicure art:

With the help of a thick gel-paint it is possible to put on intricate patterns on the nails. While the paint is not frozen, the pattern should be sprinkled with the selected material. The master of the manicure in the video master class, published just below, chose acrylic powder instead of flock. It is worth noting that the excess powder is removed after drying with a hard brush.
