What if I do not know what will happen after leaving school?

At the age of seventeen, many adolescents reflect on their future life. And this is not only the choice of a profession, place of work or training. This is still the thought of responsibility for their lives, for themselves. There is much anxiety, doubt, fear.

Some of the teenagers are hiding from anxious thoughts, are intensively studying the material for the final exams, performing all the homework. About what will happen after graduation, they try not to even think.

Another part of future graduates tries to fill their lives with "parties", "hanging", i.e. they "break away" under the full program - bars, discotheques, booze, trips to the dacha, etc. Thus, the moment of deciding on future steps and the actual implementation thereof is postponed.

And your child is also in anxiety, is afraid of taking moral responsibility for his future. Therefore, parents should know how to help the child choose the path to the future profession.

First think, do you know what your child wants?

1. What profile is better for a child?

2. Do your child's views coincide with yours in his future profession?

3. What criteria do you use to determine the future child?

4. What features does your child have that will help him, in your opinion, work successfully in the chosen specialty?

In 1998, 9333 professions were brought to the world standard, in Russia and Ukraine - 7000 professions. Annually about 500 professions are being renewed.

Previously, the profession was chosen by determining their professional qualities, comparing them with the standard (work for the sake of work and for their own pleasure and professional growth). Now the profession is a means of achieving the desired lifestyle (the specialty is chosen in order to have the appropriate social status in the society and receive the corresponding salary).

Acceleration is the reason that sexual maturity comes earlier, and emotional later. Therefore, physical and personal maturity do not coincide in time.

The level of self-consciousness 40 - 50 years ago developed in 17 - 19 years, now it is formed in 23 - 25 years.

And now we will discuss those necessary things concerning the future of a higher education institution for your child, which, even knowing about them, we sometimes do not pay attention.

So, what you should remember.

  1. Does the institution have an appropriate level of accreditation? (III-IV).
  2. Does the faculty where your child will study have a license for this specialty?
  3. Is there a distribution on the flow for groups according to the level of knowledge?
  4. Does the institution have certified links with educational institutions of foreign countries?
  5. Does the faculty have the opportunity to participate in international projects, competitions, tournaments?
  6. Is it possible to obtain a document on the formation of a European model?
  7. Is there a job opportunity in the specialty? Where and by whom do graduates of the Faculty of your specialty work?

The following should be considered: in spite of what will happen in the future, the child should be targeted so that he tries to stay in the city after graduation, or better - he found a job in the last years.

This will make you sure of your abilities, acquire the appropriate professional skills, receive your salary and be able to offer your knowledge and skills to another employer. In a simple way, parents did not spend their money, time, connections, to return home, their child remained unemployed or worked not for his specialty, or for a meager salary.

But here it is necessary to determine the child himself: what does he want to achieve and how, what occupies a determining place in his value system - professional growth, family comfort, or something else?

It should also be mentioned that by paying for training, you must first study and sign an agreement on payment for educational services. And there are important points that you should pay attention to:

  1. How is payment done - semester, annually, in parts, for the entire period of study?
  2. What changes in payment are possible with inflationary processes?
  3. What benefits are provided for students with high professional skills and who actively show them?
  4. What is the payment term and penalties in case of violation?
  5. What are the conditions and possibilities for the return of funds paid in advance, when transferring a child to another form of training?

The well-known psychologist Carl Rogers defined an adult person as able to work and love. In fact, these are not simple skills, and the child will gradually master them. If a child asks complex questions about his appointment, his life choice, thinks about why he came to this world, he is already taking the first steps to become a mature, responsible and really adult person.

We can help children to get a specialty, but only they are to work on it and achieve success.
