Do not type too many things, so as not to clutter up the room in which you will lie. But it does not matter, if you forgot to put something in your bag, you can inform your relatives about this and they will pass the necessary thing to you through the medical staff.
But, in order to make it easier for you to orient yourself and not forget the essential things, without which you'll have a hard time at the hospital, we will briefly recall: what you need to take with you to the hospital for your mother and baby.
So, what do you need to put in bags first?
- Warm terry dressing gown (especially if you have to give birth in the spring or autumn - sometimes at this time in the maternity house does not include heating, and the weather can be quite cool);
- two pairs of ordinary socks and one pair of warm;
- Two night shirts (from one after the birth itself, you will most likely have to get rid of it - it will be hopelessly dirty and hardly ever will take its original form);
- slippers;
- several removable bras with fasteners in front, this will be important when breastfeeding. You can also buy special bras for feeding, it does not need to be unbuttoned, but only the upper part of the calyx is unfastened. If you have absolutely no time or you just forgot to buy a bra for feeding - let your relatives bring special pads to the maternity wardrobe for a normal bra - so that the milk that is abundant in the first days does not stain all your things.
- Underwear (take pants more, because sometimes lochia, allocated after childbirth, very abundant - they can stain more than one pair of panties, and in your arsenal should always be a substitute for dirty underwear);
- A pair of handkerchiefs;
- comb;
- soap, preferably baby;
- paste and toothbrush;
- packing of napkins;
- Several gauze masks;
- Moisture absorbing napkins (they should be taken more, as they will be useful both during childbirth and after them, they can be danced under the baby, if you do not plan to use diapers).
- clothes in which you will return home, although it can bring and relatives on the day of discharge. When choosing shoes, stop your attention on low-heeled shoes (or even without it - it's even preferable).
- Several books and crossword puzzles, so that it was time to kill (after all, in the early days the baby sleeps a lot).
You do not need to take any accessories, jewels, perfumes, cosmetics, and anyway, to you in the maternity home, you will not need expensive things there. Besides, in the work situation of the maternity ward they can get lost, so it's not recommended to take anything like this with you. And besides everything else, cosmetics and perfumes can become a big irritant for a newborn baby, and expensive underwear and night shirts risk being spoiled during childbirth or during feeding.
A couple of lines will give information about the shoes in which you will be in the hospital. Domestic, warm, fluffy slippers, to which you are so used, will have to be left at home - they will humbly wait for your return with the baby in your arms. Need such shoes, which can be as easily processed with antiseptic, suitable leather or leatherette. And, of course, without heels, we need an absolutely flat sole.
Must be a set of gauze masks. They will be useful to you at a time when you will feed or care for a newborn baby. The fact is that in the early days the child is very weak and does not have his own immune system, he acquires it with mother's milk, and until then you will have to protect him from contact with microbes in every possible way. Gauze bandage to you in this will help the best. Change it as often as possible. For disinfection, you can use either ironing (if in the maternity ward there is an iron, of course), or boiling. And it is very important that the gauze bandages have their place - not the pocket of your dressing gown and not the box of the hospital bedside table, but a well-sterilized separate sachet.
If you do not want to tuck a baby in diapers and want to use diapers - let your relatives bring you a medical oilcloth and as many diapers as possible - in fact, in the first months the baby often urinates (about 12 times a day). And he will not like lying in wet diapers!
You also need to bring a few pairs of children's gloves - they are called "scratches". After all, the baby after birth already has tiny marigolds, and they grow fast enough. The baby's movements are not coordinated at all - that's why he can easily scratch himself. And at such a tender age, a scratch can remain a mark for life. To prevent this from happening, you must always put crumbs on the crumb until you are able to trim the tiny scales of his marigolds.
It is necessary to take with you to the hospital any baby cream that can be used under the pampers and on the folds of the skin. After all, the newborn is constantly threatened with sweating, especially if the caring mother constantly knits the crumbs. And the cotton should be greased with a fat cream or sprinkled with special powdered baby powders.
In the rest you will benefit from the experience of giving birth to girlfriends - because they know exactly what things will be useful to you and the baby in this or that maternity home.
