Woman and motherhood in modern Russia

It is generally recognized that the role of women in any society is determined by the level of development of this society. But are we free from stereotypes towards women?

This can be determined by our attitude towards the desire of a woman to self-determine in life, to choose her social status.

So, who is she, the woman in modern Russia? How strong is the role of women and motherhood in modern Russia?

Here are some of the most common stereotypes about women: she should sit at home with children and cook soup; a woman a priori does not have the skills of a leader; a constant stay at work does not contribute to the upbringing of children, keeping the house clean; politics is not a woman's business.

The role of women in society is assessed by two criteria: first, it is official statistics. Secondly, these are the data of sociological surveys of the population.

According to the 2002 census, the number of women in Russia in percentage terms is 53.5%. Among them, 63% are working women, and only 49% of working men. What do these testimonies give us? Working women with higher education who are engaged in their careers are twice as likely to remain childless as women who initially devoted themselves to the arrangement of a home. According to statistical calculations, the average age of birth of the firstborn and "careerists" is 29 years, and for women - housewives - 24 years.

It will be interesting to note the fact that in Russia the number of women with a degree, and this is teachers, scientists, far exceeds the world figures.

And this is not the limit. As they say, there is no limit to perfection!

According to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 337 of 04.03.1993 "On the Priorities of the State Policy on Women," it is necessary to ensure the real participation of women in public activities and in the activities of public authorities on the ground. In order to implement this Decree in practice, committees and commissions for the protection of women, children and motherhood as a whole were formed at all levels of government in Russia, including at local levels. In 1997, the Commission for the Advancement of Women was established. However, unfortunately, in 2004 it ceased to exist. But, nevertheless, women in Russia have gained and retain the opportunity to gain active participation in the political life of the country and to work in public bodies on a par with men.

There is a whole list of normative and legal acts of the Russian Federation regulating the rights of women in modern Russia: the National Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women and Enhancing Their Role in Society, approved by Decree No. 1032 of the Government of the Russian Federation of August 29, 1996; The concept of the advancement of women in the Russian Federation, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation of 8 January 1996 No. 6; Federal Law of 15.11.1997 "On acts of civil status"; The concept of lawmaking for ensuring equal rights and equal opportunities for men and women, approved in 1997; An approximate provision on the crisis center for assistance to women, published as an annex to the Decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Russian Federation of 10 July 1997 No. 40.

On the issue of motherhood in modern Russia, it is important to emphasize that earlier, during the Soviet Union, the role of the mother mother in the then society was very great. And although the mothers' capitals were not given then, her authority was supported by active agitation work.

Woman and motherhood in modern Russia is not just a concept of sociology, it is a cultural phenomenon inextricably linked to the very notion of "culture", the study of which and its reflection in the self-awareness of a woman of the XXI century is in our time an urgent social problem.

At this stage of development of modern Russian family creation, the appearance of children, as noted earlier, falls to a later age, less often women prefer the "kitchen" of a career.

In the women's self-consciousness to date, there are two main trends. One of them is active social activity. And another, as you probably already guessed, is the arrangement and storage of a family home, the birth and upbringing of children. Every woman finds her own ways of self-realization in her life.

The hard question is - what is more difficult: to build a career or become a good mother, an exemplary wife? The birth of children does not seem to be so difficult for most women today. They are not looking for easy ways.

But, nevertheless, there are those who are ready to quit all careers, earnings, on the altar of family happiness and prosperity. As they say "Caesar's Caesar". In the end, the family life of her parents plays an important role in the upbringing of a young girl. After all at a young age, young ladies are formed concepts and ideas about their own future family, as they imagine it.

And what if the home environment of a young girl leaves much to be desired? Who will help her with the choice? Often, these adolescents form a negative image of the concept of "family" as such, there are often cases of deviant behavior on this basis. Such girls maternity only scares. They think that they will not be able to provide the baby with all the necessary care and love. But this is more an exception than the rule. The maternal instinct is incorporated in the woman by nature itself. And there are not many who do not have or are not sufficiently developed.

There are women who are afraid of pregnancy due to the fact that it can adversely affect their health, appearance. But the facts speak for themselves. Pregnancy only improves a woman, making her image more compelling in the eyes of the public, and for the most important person in her life - a husband who is ready to literally wear his beloved.

Summarizing all of the above, we can say one thing. In modern Russia for a modern woman there are a lot of options how to build your personal life on your own, individual pattern. For married couples, there are maternal capitals and many support programs for young families. For businesswomen, all the doors to all spheres of professional activity are open.

The choice is yours!
