Children's massage with scoliosis

Prophylaxis and treatment of scoliosis in children at different stages
Scoliosis is the curvature of the vertebrae, resulting from the incorrect formation of posture or an inflammatory process affecting the vertebral tissues. Therapeutic massage aimed at eliminating the disease is recommended for children at different types and degrees, especially if they have poorly developed musculature. To prevent curvature of the spine, experts advise to resort to back massage in preschool and junior school age.

Is it possible to do a baby massage at home?

Of course, it is worth taking into account that this procedure is not a panacea for the disease, since it only acts as a supplement to exercise therapy, manual therapy in the treatment of pathology.

But also to minimize its value in the curvature of the spine, too, should not, because it positively affects the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as improving metabolic mechanisms. Since the specialists share the procedure for a general and private massage, it is necessary to mention that both of them are actually performed at home for children.

The technique of pediatric differentiated massage for scoliosis of 2 and 3 degrees

Considering the fact that the curvature of the spine is associated with excessive muscle tension on one side and, on the contrary, relaxation with another, an experienced specialist needs to choose the correct technique for performing a children's massage. He must accurately determine the nuances of pathology and carry out the procedure, taking into account its features: in places of tension - to relax, and in the stretched zone - to strengthen.

  1. When the angle of curvature is reached from 30 to 50 degrees, there is a need for a differentiated massage. In the area of chest scoliosis, the movements should acquire a large amplitude and, perhaps, even weighting should be used to increase the intensity of the effect on the muscle groups. After this, the lumbar concavity should be applied, aimed at reducing muscle tone and relaxation.
  2. Massage as a preventive method for scoliosis in children. Since the implementation of this procedure, as mentioned earlier, is mainly aimed at normalizing muscle tone, reducing their fatigue, strengthening the muscles, it is necessary to adhere to the basic sequence of movements during preventive massage:
    • the patient lies on the abdomen - the specialist on the thoracic region performs smoothing movements aimed at relaxation, then proceeds to rubbing and vibrating actions (tapping and tapping).
    • on the left side - the masseur uses methods to prevent the appearance of the iliac crest on the right (or, in the case of scoliosis - eliminating it).
    • a turn on the abdomen - manipulation in the lumbar region, followed by rubbing for relaxation, as well as working with the subscapular zone.
    • the child turns over on a back - movements are made in the field of anterior thoracic surface.
    • the final stage is stroking the back and shoulders.

In general, massage is an important and effective component in the proper treatment of scoliosis, as well as an addition to the basic methods of correction of curvature of the back.
