Children's room lighting

The earlier a child has his own room, the better, psychologists say. And adults should take care of that little man was comfortable in it. Comfort in the nursery creates correctly selected furniture, decoration of the room, favorite toys, and, of course, lighting. If in "adult" rooms, selecting lighting devices, we often are guided by aesthetic tasks, then for the child we will put convenience and safety at the heart of the matter.

The most successful options for the location of the children's room are east and southeast, because in the morning when the baby gets up, the sun brightens the room brightly, beneficially acting on his nervous system. In this sense, rooms facing west are unfavorable: they create an unnatural light regime - in the mornings twilight, and in the evening it is light and hot.

For artificial illumination of a nursery, a general ceiling light and a lamp at the head of the bed will be needed, and with the arrival of school times, one can not do without a local lamp for classes. Proper lighting should not create great brightness, undesirable shine of illuminated surfaces in the field of view, and at the same time it should provide sufficient brightness of surrounding objects (including wall and ceiling surfaces), eliminating sharp transitions from light to shadow, harmful to light. eye. These rules, common to both adults and children, are often ignored. But in the nursery they should not be neglected.

The children's room is designed for games, classes, rest and sleep. Lighting, like furniture, should change with the age of the tenant, so it makes sense to anticipate in advance the possibility of constructive changes in lighting design. The necessary minimum of lighting for the preschooler's room is a ceiling light and a lamp at the head of the bed. Must be a central chandelier (its light is most favorable for the eyes) - only without bulky and pretentious designs (imagine that a child with friends will start playing ball ...). We need lamps with a uniform distribution of light and a lamp - with good color rendering. Openwork glass or crystal do not fit - they give additional glare, and this creates an unnecessary strain on the eyes. Therefore, the optimal lighting option is a rather large flat ceiling in the center of the ceiling with a not very strong matte lamp giving scattered light. A good option - point halogen light bulbs (especially convenient for suspended ceilings), which give a bright, but not a blinding effect. But fluorescent lamps are not recommended for use because they cause fatigue and irritability.

Too bright light is bad, but the shade is not good either. A small night light is needed at the crib (preferably with adjustable brightness of light) so that the child is not afraid to fall asleep. It can be a lamp-"clothespin" on a flexible leg, allowing you to remove the light from the child's face.

The child goes to school, and much in his life is changing, in particular, he begins to spend more time at the table. It is common knowledge that the light should fall on the left and in front. The maximum use of daylight can be achieved by pushing the table to the window. But quite often a schoolboy has to do homework in the evening, with the light of a lamp. It should, of course, stand in the left front corner, always with a shade, so that the eyes are protected from direct rays. The lamp on the flexible leg is convenient (because its position can be adjusted in accordance with the growth of the child), as well as floor lamps with a movable bracket, which can be installed at your discretion. Above the workplace of the child, on the left side of the table, it is possible to attach the wall lamp to the hinged brackets. Its lampshade of opaque material should give a narrow strip of light, focused on the workplace.

Do not use bulbs with a power higher than 60 watts. A dazzling stream of light, reflected by the white surface of the paper, tires the eyes and spoils the vision . To avoid harmful for the eyes of sharp transitions from brightly lit areas to darkened, we advise in parallel with the table lamp to include the total scattered light.

If the child loves to read lying, it will be necessary to choose a convenient lamp - the wall lamp on the bracket is optimal, which makes it possible to correctly direct the light flux.

There is an opinion that the necessary level of light comfort can be provided by five different lighting devices. Another way is also possible - to use a pendant light for combined lighting, which can be hung from a long cord in various sections of the ceiling, if desired, directing light to the table for classes, to the zone of games, to the bed.

Safety is the most important factor that should be followed when designing a children's room. Let it be nothing that can lead to misfortune. The main and very simple rule for lighting installation - lamps must be inaccessible to the child, so as to satisfy his curiosity he did not stretch once to unscrew the cartridge, to examine the inside of the lamp. It is better not to use portable table lamps, they are easy to overturn. Instead, you can hang a wall lamp on long brackets or a hanging lamp moving horizontally. Equipped with a long cord, it can also be used as a local light source above the table, in a corner for playing games or at the child's bedside.

Switches and sockets are put in places that are inaccessible to children. If the child still has the opportunity to reach the sockets, it is better to glue them with special plastic lids. There are sockets of increased security, intended for use where there are children. Special curtains securely close contact sockets from penetration of foreign objects, unlocking the outlet is possible only by inserting a plug into it. All wires must be at a height or be securely hidden.

Incorrectly selected lighting can greatly spoil the eyesight or even upset the child's psyche. Therefore, to think about the light comfort should be from the earliest years of the baby. Depending on the age, children show pronounced color preferences, prefer juicy open flowers, unusual geometric shapes. Consider this, especially since the huge choice of chandeliers and lamps for children's rooms simplifies the task. You can always think of something unusual. Let this little world be decorated with cheerful lamps, sconces and lampshades of multi-colored material with characters from popular children's cartoons, with different bears and bunnies, which will surely please your child.

We often remember our childhood as the brightest time of life, even if our children will have a bright childhood in all senses ...
