Cow milk for children

Give cow's milk for a year or so is undesirable. If, for whatever reason, you can not breast-feed your baby or just do not have enough milk, it's best to choose a formula for complementary feeding. After the child turns a year, you can enter into the baby's diet special baby milk, which should not be boiled. The quality of such baby milk is much higher than normal. When preparing cereals, you can use ordinary pasteurized milk, since it must be boiled.

How and how much to give cow milk to children

Like any lure, children should start giving cow's milk from a small amount. Gastroenterologists advise to start whole milk with water. In the first two or three weeks, one part of the milk is bred with two parts of water, then only one part of the water can be taken for one part of the milk. It is mandatory to monitor the child's reaction to the introduction of this product, since milk can cause an allergic reaction.

If the child already has allergic reactions or has problems with metabolism, then milk can be given only after consulting a specialist (gastroenterologist).

A child at the age of two years should consume 450-500 ml of milk and fermented milk products per day. At the age of three, the child can consume milk at will.

If the milk is sterilized, it is completely neutralized, and it can be stored for several months. Boil this milk is not necessary. But it is worth noting that because of the high temperature treatment, in such milk there are much fewer useful substances.

Giving children pasteurized milk is better, since such milk is processed at a lower temperature, which means that there are more useful substances in it. This milk is not stored for long - only five to seven days, except for this, milk should be boiled a little.

Rural milk is useful, but with it you should be careful. The animal from which the milk is obtained must be kept clean, it should only be fed with natural fodder, and during the spill all sanitary and hygienic standards must be observed. It is also worth noting that such milk is very fat for a baby, so it must be planted.

Whole cow milk can be given to babies up to two years, then it is possible to give skim milk.

Products based on cow's milk

Along with natural milk, other high-quality dairy products, for example, yoghurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, etc., must be present in the baby's diet. Milk products are made by fermenting milk with special ferments based on kefir fungi, bifidum bacteria, acidophilus rods and etc. Such microorganisms, getting into the human body, suppress the vital activity of pathogenic microbes. Also useful microorganisms contribute to the enhancement of the synthesis of B vitamins.

Sour-milk drinks (yoghurt, kefir, fermented milk), which are made specially for children, have high nutritional value, are easily digested and have a positive effect on the functioning of the digestive system, since they stimulate the production of gastric juice and bile. The volume of fermented milk products should be from 200 to 400 ml per day.

It is necessary for the child to give cottage cheese, because it contains easily digestible calcium and phosphorus. Cottage cheese, in fact, is a curdled milk protein, which is separated from the serum - the liquid that forms when the milk is sour. Cottage cheese contains much more protein than whole cow milk, but the protein is mainly presented by casein, and especially valuable whey proteins are removed together with serum. Also high in curd and the content of vitamins PP and B1.

To feed children, it is better to use medium-fat cottage cheese (from 5 to 11%). Children under one year need 40 grams of cottage cheese, up to seven years, children should receive from forty to fifty grams of cottage cheese per day.

Not very fat in the baby food should be cream and sour cream. Although very fatty dairy products are rich in fat-soluble vitamins and iron, but they have little phosphorus, calcium and water-soluble vitamins. Sour cream with fat content more than 10% in the preschooler's diet can be used in the form of soup and other dishes.
