In 1986, Ford returned to New York and immediately got into the team of Cathy Hadwick, she was at that time a famous designer. After a while he will hold the post of art director at Parry Ellis, where he will work until 1990. After that, when Ford was already twenty-nine years old, he went to conquer Italy - Milan. In the same year, 1990, he became the designer of the House of Gucci, and two years later - the artistic director of the Fashion House. At the beginning of the new millennium, the Gucci group bought a stake in the Yves Saint Laurent House, which means that the designer Tom Ford began to lead the most famous and largest brand in the world.

A simple guy from Texas became a serious and recognizable fashion designer: in 1996 he was named the designer of the year by the American Association of Designers, and a year later he was listed among fifty of the most beautiful people on the planet according to one of the most read magazine - People. In 2001, Thomas Ford recognized the CFDA award and the Time edition. After six years, he opened Tom Ford International, his own boutique on the famous Madison Avenue in New York, the following year the network began to grow actively and already affected Asia and Europe. The partnership with the Fashion House Gucci ended in 2003, leaving him was very enchanting: the last collection was bought out before she entered the mass market.

A self-brand named Tom Ford appeared in 2005 - it was then that Tom Ford began an independent career in the fashion world. With the support of ex-CEO of the Fashion House Gucci and the new president of the newly created company Tom Ford, Ford joins the group Marcolin, and this is the world leader in the production of glasses. Thus, Tom began to create and distribute frames and sunglasses under the brand Tom Ford.

Also in 2005, there is a merger with Estée Lauder in order to create a cosmetic line. And so their creation appears - a collection of Tom Ford pour Estée Lauder, as well as a line of fragrances.

In February next year, the brand signs a license agreement with the Ermenegildo Zegna group. After that he starts the production of the collection, which includes models of shoes, clothes, accessories for men.

In the spring of two thousand and seven, the designer received the award of Vito Russo de Glaad for his talent and professionalism.

A month after this, the first boutique on Madison Avenue, 845, was presented to the public in New York City. At the same time, a collection of accessories for men was launched.

In the summer of next year, the first Tom Ford boutique was opened in Europe, in Milan.
