Proper care and ways of reproduction of chrysanthemum
"Golden Flower" - this is how the name "chrysanthemum" is translated from Greek. It is due to the golden-yellow coloration of most representatives. They are classified according to the size of the inflorescences: large-flowered, small-flowered, and medium-branched. In addition, there is a subdivision of them depending on the height of the flower bush, the type of the flower and the flowering time (early, middle, middle and late). So, if you choose the right chrysanthemums with different periods of flowering, you can easily create your own flower arrangement, which will please with a variety of bright colors both in summer and late autumn.

Chrysanthemum planting

Chrysanthemum is usually planted not in a hole, but in a trench with a distance between cuttings - 30-50 cm. After planting, it is necessary to cover them with cover material to create favorable microclimatic conditions.

Chrysanthemums: growing and caring for them

This flower is very thermophilic, so you should choose the place for planting with special care. These magnificent flowers will perfectly take root in a sunny place. The soil must be neutral or slightly acidic, with high water permeability and good drainage. Soil, poor in useful substances, is pre-fertilized with peat, compost or overripe manure.

Chrysanthemum is a moisture-loving plant; therefore, before flowering, it should be watered abundantly with rainwater or at least 12 hours with water.

For a young bush, it is recommended to apply nitrogen fertilizers as a fertilizer so that the green mass grows actively, and the color of the leaves and inflorescences is bright and juicy.

Phosphate-potassium fertilizers increase the immunity of plants and improve its flowering. Remember that the fertilizer is watered only under the root so as not to get a chemical burn of the leaves.

When a bush grows, it is necessary to tear off the old leaves that are most susceptible to diseases. After that, the plants are watered under the root. In order not to break the fragile stems of the bush from heavy rain or wind, shoots should be tied to pegs. At the end of flowering or with the onset of frost, the shrub is cut, leaving hemp height 10-15 cm.

How can chrysanthemums be propagated?

Chrysanthemums can be propagated by dividing the bush, cuttings or seeds.

The first method is the simplest and most common. In the spring, after warming, when frosts are no longer expected, dig a bush and share a young shoot, shoots with roots are planted and immediately abundantly watered.

For the second method, spring shoots 10-15 cm long are cut in spring, put in prepared soil and watered until the cuttings are allowed to take roots.

With the latter method, the seeds are planted directly into the soil in several pieces per well. In this case, the bush will blossom only in early August. If you start germinating the seeds in the room from March, and then transplant the seedlings, the flowering will come at the end of June.

Homemade chrysanthemums

In fact, room chrysanthemums as a separate species does not exist. These are cuttings of a common bush, transplanted into a pot. Modern breeders have learned to inhibit the growth of plants with the help of special preparations, so that the flowers look like small bushes.

However, you need to take care of the chrysanthemum room a little differently. Watering the plant should be 2-3 times a week, not allowing the drying and waterlogging of the soil. Spray with stop water at least twice a week. For chrysanthemums in pots the most comfortable temperature in the house is 18 degrees Celsius. Do not expose to direct sunlight on leaves and flowers. They are considered annual flowers, so they are thrown out after flowering.

Diseases and pests

If the rules for growing chrysanthemums are violated, this may lead to the fact that the plant is ill. There are infectious or non-infectious diseases. Non-infectious diseases occur when the diet, moisture, temperature and soil conditions are disturbed. Infectious include changes in the appearance of plants under the influence of infection, bacteria, fungus, virus.

Also bushes can suffer from pests: aphids, spider mites, meadow bugs, tobacco thrips, slobbery pennies. In this case, plants are usually sprayed with insecticides.
